Managing Without Micromanaging

Share

Monday, February 7, 2011 – 12:00 PM Eastern Time
Live Webinar 1 PDU (1 hr duration 1 PDU)
Presented By ASPE (REP 2161): Dave Caccamo, PMP

The term “micromanagement” definitely (and deservedly) has very negative connotations. Nearly everyone agrees that as a management technique, it leaves a great deal to be desired. But at the same time, managers rarely, if ever, recognize the micromanagement style in themselves.

What constitutes a micromanager and do you display the symptoms? How can you correct the micromanagement tendencies in your management approach? If micromanagement is not effective, then how do you deal with procrastinators and other problem team members?

This seminar looks at why individuals micromanage, how to correct your own tendencies, and how to deal with situations where you might tend to find yourself taking the micro approach.

Seminar Presenter:

Dave Caccamo, PMP, (LinkedIn profile)has three decades of experience in engineering, economics and project management. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the United States Naval Academy and a Masters of Economics (Engineering Minor) from North Carolina State University. Dave has demonstrated time and again his ability to make complex business and engineering concepts understandable to executives, managers and technicians through his fundamental modeling of subject matter.

This is a 1 hour seminar and attendees will be awarded 1 PDU for participating.

Recrded Live Webinar – Thursday February 17, 2011   EST
Presenters: Jose Solera, Senior Project and Program Management Executive & Timm Esque, Co-Founder of Ensemble Management Consulting
Duration: 1 hour 1 CAT 4 FREE by Journyx Inc.

Agile recognizes that creating value in today’s environment means adapting not just between projects but within projects. While Agile evolved mostly in software development environments and is often viewed as a software only approach, the need to adapt to create value exists just as strongly in non-software environments.Agile suggests an array of practices consistent with key principles and core values, but it can be difficult to combine the right set of practices to ensure success and a positive start down the Agile path.

This presentation demonstrates specific practices for applying Agile concepts to all sorts of projects. It startes by reviewing the Agile concepts and then provide examples of Agile practices (and tools) applied to both software and non software projects. It will also describe how this particular set of Agile practices (called Commitment-based Project Management – CBPM) evolved at Intel Corp. in the mid-1990’s.

This webinar gives attendees a chance to:

  • Learn what it means to be ‘Agile’
  • Understand how to apply Agile concepts to all sorts of projects
  • Learn the benefits of a set of proven Agile practices (sometimes callCBPM) and how to learn more about them

This webinar is 1 hour long and attendees are eligible for 1 PDU Credit.
