Let me start with a story about Expectations.

On my way out the door Friday morning, I asked my wife what kind of pizza she wanted for supper. “Large deep dish Galaxy – the one with shrimp, pineapple, bacon, olives and peppers.” When I walked in at 5:30 with her favorite chicken dinner, I was greeted with a glare and an exclamation “Oh, you brought chicken”. I thought I was bringing home her favorite, but in fact she had been thinking about that pizza all day long.

In this combo pack from PDUs2Go and David Nour, David Nour presents the webinar “Project Management Relationships Reinvented.” After the webinar, you can dive into his book “Relationship Economics®” for more indepth discussion covering Personal, Functional and Strategic Relationships. He introduces the concept of Relationship Currency.

In bringing home that bucket of chicken, I didn’t earn me the ‘brownie points’ (Personal currency) that I was expecting because I had set the wrong expectations in the morning discussion 🙂

Did you know that an individual’s personality impacts not only the way that they communicate with others, but also their preferences as to how others communicate with them?

Through interactive exercises and self-exploration, you will enhance your ability to recognize diverse communication styles and preferences. You will also gain the tools to tailor your communication so that it has maximum impact.

Benefits
Communication is often seen as a “nice to have” in project management, when in reality all too many problems we encounter on our projects can be traced back to… problems in communication.

This webinar will increase your understanding of how and why people communicate the way they do. It will help you understand your communication blind spots and will give you the tools to communicate more effectively with people you find most “difficult.” In short: by the end of this webinar, you will have the skills needed to boost your team’s performance and build harmony while at the same time getting your point across.

What Your Will Learn
Upon completion of this webinar, the participants will learn:

  • What your psychological preferences are in terms of communication and why they exist
  • How to recognize the communication preferences and styles of others
  • How to maintain the integrity of your message while tailoring it to various audiences
  • How to use these new tools to transform conflict into connection and build your team’s performance

Do you have problems getting the right resources for your projects?
Do your team members consistently miss schedule dates or exceed budgets?

Maybe the problem is that you are not an effective negotiator!

Most experienced Project Managers typically have good ‘hard skills’ in project management, such as defining scope, budgeting or scheduling, but come up short in some soft skills areas such as negotiating.

The top ten mistakes made in conducting project negotiations, along with techniques that can be utilized to avoid these mistakes will be presented. The talk will then describe a recommended procedure to follow when preparing for a negotiation.

This webinar should be of interest for experienced Project Managers looking for pointers on how to be more effective in negotiation situations.
