Live Webinar – February 21st, 2011 1:00 pm – 2:00 pm EST
Presented by: The Advisory Council Enabling IT Transformation
Duration: 1 Hour 1 Category C PDU – Free PDU

The past year has been one of intense challenges for Research In Motion as it faces increased competition in smartphones and enterprise services, a difficult transition to its new BlackBerry 10 software platform, the market failure of its PlayBook tablet, shareholder pressure for management changes, and major outages of its services.

All this has created fear, uncertainty and doubt in RIM’s core enterprise customer base, which remains critical to its survival. Many enterprises are nervous about committing further investment to a platform which seems to be under threat, while also seeing new trends such as “bring your own device” policies and more robust cloud e-mail offerings.

This webinar, presented by TAC Expert Caroline Gabriel, will provide a balanced assessment of RIM’s challenges and opportunities, and of the risk of continuing to base your enterprise mobile messaging strategy on this platform.

Hot issues to be addressed include:

  • How safe is continued investment in RIM technology?
  • How likely is RIM to be acquired, and if it were to be, what impact would that have on users’ current technology investments?
  • What are the best alternatives to BlackBerry as an enterprise mobile messaging platform?
  • What should you do to meet demand for mobile devices until alternatives are evaluated and deployed?

Presenter: Caroline Gabriel, TAC Expert, specializes in technologies and business models for service providers and vendors, in the broadband wireless, 3G, fixed/mobile convergence and wireline broadband markets. Prior to co-founding Rethink Research Associates, Caroline spent a large part of her career in various senior positions at VNU Business Publishing Europe.
