This is a MUST TAKE opportunity – If you are setting up your own teams this provides a terrific framework to help you understand the strengths of your potential team members placing them in the roles that will make your projects even more successful. I took this session when it was offered in August and was very impressed with the usefulness of the material and the “payoff” it provided!

For those of you setting up agile teams with strong roles – This helps you understand the strengths of your team and set up the best matches to make your projects even more successful!

– Edmonton PM

NOTE: This registration is for 2 consecutive Wednesdays – The instructional segment is delivered in four modules, each one contact hour, given in webinar format in two, two-hour sessions. This course is also approved for four hours of HRCI recertification credit

TGI Role-Based Assessmentâ„¢ is a completely new online behavioral assessment for hiring, workforce planning, coaching, and team-building. Although this session is often directed towards HR Professionals, Project Managers need to be able to create strong teams. Many teams are strongly role based and a solid understanding of RBA will assist in choosing and developing agile team members.

Individual strengths can lead to a personal triumph, but a team is greater than the sum of its parts. RBA identifies behaviors that impact quality of team interaction and ‘fit’ to job responsibilities: the ‘who fits where’ and the ‘why’ of winning teams. With RBA, you can reliably hire ‘the best of the best’, identify and resolve team performance problems, and build a strong, resilient human infrastructure

Organizations of every type and size experience the cost and pain of human performance failings, and are highly vulnerable to the ‘collateral damage’ that results from hiring the wrong people. TGI Role-Based Assessmentâ„¢ (RBA) makes it possible to reliably select high quality team players, and to match their job responsibilities to the way they envision themselves serving their team (their ‘Role’).

Role-Based Assessment was designed from its very beginnings to measure and predict the quality of a person’s team interaction.

RBA can greatly reduce the costs and risks associated with errors in hiring and promoting, while delivering significant business value by matching people to the functional mission of their team.

RBA is also highly effective in analyzing and solving team performance problems.

This certification course is a comprehensive overview of RBA and CHI methods. It prepares learners to provide basic support to users of Role-Based Assessment, and to apply for Certification. Certification requires passing a written examination and meeting TGI’s modest standards for ongoing participation.

Course content includes:

  • Participant’s own Role-Based Assessment at no additional cost
  • Four contact hours of training, including all materials
  • Readings to be completed during course attendance
  • Brief written certification examination to measure comprehension of course materials and applications

More about Carl Pritchard: Project Management Risk Guru & Presenter Extraordinaire Carl has written more that 70 articles on The Fundamentals of Project Management – Applying traditional project management in demanding environment. A bio and a large compilation of article experts by Carl Pritchard on Project Management topics is available on: http://www.projectconnections.com.

Below are some specific links to a selection of his articles:

A Time to Be Project Positive!
The Dalai Lama offers Carl some perspective on our potential for profound influence, both as project managers and as people. If ever there was a time to be “project positive,” this is it! There is so much to be positive about.

Context in Communication
Get others up to speed on your insider stories, and both your team and your communication will be the better for it. As we manage, we have a habit of invoking terms and terminology, assuming that others share our communications context.

In Defense of the Project Management “Perfect World”
We know the textbook doesn’t come anywhere near the real world. That doesn’t mean it’s not worth trying. One of the most common challenge questions I get when teaching PMP® Exam Preparation courses is “Why doesn’t PMI make the test more real-world? Why do they insist on testing for a world that no one really lives in?”

Do We Really Need the Second Decimal?
Why are we shrouding a common-sense profession in arcane standards? Sometimes a plan is just a plan. When I suggested that our effort in spreading the project management gospel should be simplification and clarification, one team member shot back: “For every complex problem there is an answer which is clear, simple and wrong.” But there are also clear, simple and correct explanations

War of the Worlds – Lessons Learned from the Martian Invasion (A Martian Perspective)
Carl models best practices for your lessons learned reports, with this otherworldly perspective on the most disastrous project of all time. Kickoff Meeting – The kickoff meeting united the political and logistical sides of the house by clearly defining the vision and the approach. Without clarity on that, we probably wouldn’t have been able to get management to drag their tentacles out of the Dark Ages and sign off on the thing.

Project Management Starts with PR – Branding Project Management
Get It Done At Any Cost? Team Lead’s Best Friend? What’s your project management brand, and how can you use it to the best advantage? What’s your brand of project management? Does it vary from client to client? If so, you may have a problem. Branding is, if nothing else, a lesson in consistency

Live Webinar – February 10th, 12:00-1:00 PM EST
Offered by ASPE (REP 2161) 1 Category A PDU – Free PDU
This is a 1 hour seminar and attendees will be awarded 1 PDU for participating

When designing a web presence, there’s often a disastrous disconnect between the design of user experience, system functionality, and visual design. Sometimes design is by committee, done on the fly, or worse: given no truly structured process at all.

By investing in a few common sense analysis measures at the beginning of your project, you can ensure that the rollout of your web presence will be as efficient and effective as possible.

In this free one-hour web presentation, business analysis expert Billie Johnson, CBAP, presents some common-sense methods to bring your team together for determining proper direction and function before moving to design and production.

By determining function, then moving on to form, then implementing form efficiently by prototyping core features of your design, you can effectively address user and customer needs and combine them with elegant packaging. This focus on business needs, user experience and an organized approach to prototyping key foundations of your web presence with integrated visual design allows you to maximize your investment in web design.

Billy will show you you how to leverage basic techniques proven in the world of business analysis, and apply them to your online design efforts when the time comes for you to roll out a shiny new website or user interface.

Presenter: Billie Johnson, CBAP, (LinkedIn profile) has 20+ years of experience in the field of business analysis spanning financial, manufacturing, consulting, education, and government industries. As an early adopter of the IIBA® and CBAP® certification, she received her CBAP® certification in May 2007. Billie is currently a Business Analysis Instructor/Coach/Mentor and enjoys furthering the field of business analysis.

You can by not choosing to do business with my organization. Of all the elements that make up a world class service offering (the product, the price, etc) one stands alone as the single biggest factor in defining with whom one chooses to do business…the service.
