SharePoint is used as an enterprise collaboration platform in almost every organization, yet many organizations are still in the process of deciding why and when they should implement some of the new SharePoint 2010 social capabilities. While many organizations understand the benefits social technology can provide it’s not clear how SharePoint measures up against other social technologies, and perhaps more importantly what the true benefits social capabilities in SharePoint provide to real business scenarios.

Join Richard Harbridge as he provides an objective overview of what works well, and what works poorly in SharePoint 2010 and how it can help your SharePoint implementation be more successful.

Learn:

  1. Strengths and weaknesses of SharePoint’s native social capability and how you can tackle those weaknesses.
  2. Real world risks that SharePoint social capabilities can introduce and how to tackle them.
  3. How to begin planning a social strategy and roll out with SharePoint.

Presenter: Richard Harbridge (LinkedIn profile) is an internationally recognized expert in Microsoft SharePoint and is a technology and business evangelist with deep expertise in information architecture, enterprise content management, and technology strategy. He has defined, architected, developed and successfully implemented well over a hundred SharePoint solutions from small implementations on a single server to over 80,000+ user implementations in international organizations. Big Data is rapidly becoming a recognized market term for the growth in the volume of data in organizations. Understanding how to use Pattern-Based Strategy to seek, model and adapt to patterns contained in big data will be a critical IT and business skill.

Business leaders have traditionally focused structured data seeking efforts on answering two questions:

  1. What happened and …
  2. Why did it happen.

For the most part, investments in BI delivered reports that helped in this area.

But …… Business leaders are asking new questions:

  1. What is happening right now,
  2. What is likely to happen and …
  3. What events could affect the future.

Technology exists and more is emerging to help with these new questions. By connecting technology to business leaders needs, there is an opportunity for CIO’s to take a more entrepreneurial role in business.

Discussion Topics:

  • The Quest for (and Value of) Better Insight and Information
  • Understanding the Business Opportunity of Information
  • Why IT and Business Leaders Should Act Now

Resolving Resource Overallocation between projects is a common requirement for several organizations.

At the same time the techniques for resolving Overallocations in a Project Server Environment are not understood well enough. W

hile the techniques themselves do not vary too much from the ones used for stand-alone projects using MS Project 2010, it is important to keep the Server environment in perspective.

The goal of this session is to cover these techniques in depth, as applicable to an organization using Project Server 2010.

Some of the topics that will be part of this discussion are:

  • Identifying an Overallocation of Resource, within your project and across projects
  • Manual methods of resolving overallocation
  • Using Resource Leveling in a Project Server Environment
  • Tips and tricks on designing an efficient Resource Allocation process

Speaker Profile: Prasanna Adavi (LinkedIn profile) PMP, MCTS is a Senior EPM Consultant with EPM Architects, Inc. He is also a subject matter expert in implementing Project Management and Portfolio Management processes for organizations using MS Project and MS Project Server platforms.
