Duration: 1 Hour 1 Category C PDU – Free PDU

“Too long.” “Too costly,” Too wishy-washy.” “Fluff.”
In the corporate world, stories are discouraged and misunderstood.

Many eLearning leaders and developers are skeptical about the use of interactive stories in eLearning. Anecdotal and scientific research in educational institutions suggests that stories facilitate learning.

In this session, Ray Jimenez will present a research report on
“Story Impacts Learning and Performance.”

The research covered 500 respondents who participated in a controlled and blind study to evaluate two types of eLearning: one with stories and another without stories.

The results show the impacts on comprehension and retention and
the engagement levels of the learning.

The findings also suggest:

  1. That stories, although they can add development time,
  2. Actually reduces learning time of the participants and ….
  3. Therefore reduces the costs of eLearning project.

Participants, who design, implement and lead eLearning projects will benefit from this session.

  • Learn the cost-benefit contributions of stories and show researched-based results on the impacts of interactive stories in facilitating learning and improving comprehension and retention
  • Demonstrate to your senior management that the return on investment in story-based eLearning design is higher than the traditional linear and facts only type of learning
  • Obtain a synthesis of the Research Report with a the “Top 20 Tips in Applying Interactive Stories in eLearning”
  • Learn a basic research model you can apply to measure results of your story-based eLearning projects

This session is a research presentation, question and answer session and small group discussions on the impacts and applications of the research findings.
