Writing Agile Contracts

Live Webinar – October 18th 2012, 12:00-1:00 pm EDT
Offered by ASPE (REP 2161) 1 Category A PDU – Free PDU
This is a 1 hour seminar and attendees will be awarded 1 PDU for participating

Agile, in it’s original form, was a framework utilized by product development organizations as a way to manage the creation and delivery of products for their customers. But as Agile continues to grow in popularity and is used more widely by a variety of organizations, many teams are finding it challenging to apply an Agile approach to a project that involves either third party developers or off-the-shelf products that need to be configured.

In each of these situations, Agile is still applicable, but it requires forethought in the way that working agreements and contracts are written so as to provide the flexibility that Agile promises while still maintaining the legal protections that the contract requires.

This hour long web seminar will explore various contracting models that may be used when applying an Agile approach while working with third party providers.

Live Webinar – October 16th, 2012 2:00 pm – 3:00 pm EDT
Presented by: Eclipse Project Portfolio Management
Duration: 1 hour 1 PDUs Credits: Category C 1 PDU- Free PDU

Project Portfolio Management (PPM) initiatives are expected to provide significant benefit to multiple roles within an organization.

Intuitively, most staff can understand the potential value in the organization, process and technology changes involved with a PPM initiative. However, the lack of change management practices through a PPM initiative’s implementation is one of the most common reasons for their failure. Symptoms of this issue can include poor executive commitment, resistance or political pressure from functional management and compliance issues with project teams.

Eclipse will review common misconceptions about PPM initiative implementations, provide some guiding principles for successful change and detail the steps and key communication messages necessary to gain buy-in from executive and functional management as well as from project teams.

This webinar will also provide tips that can be incorporated into the initiation and planning of your PPM initiative to increase your odds of success.

Who should attend this webinar?
C-Level Management, IT Directors and Managers or Directors of PMOs

Future of Testing: Are You Ready for the Impact?

Live Webinar October 9th, 2012, 2:00 pm – 3:00 pm EDT
Duration:1 hour Webcast + Q & A – Up to 1 Category C PDU – Free PDU
Hosted By: StickyMinds

  • Social Media
  • Mobile communications, and …
  • E-Commerce

This social media revolution and the additional flexibility provided by cloud infrastructure and the capability to process information – has been enhanced by more granular pieces of information through analytics.

This has resulted in IT getting involved increasingly in critical decision-making.

Decisions affecting revenues cannot be implemented without IT’s support. As a result, IT organizations are now expected to deliver changes to the implemented functionality, as well as new functionality within days, if not hours.

In this interactive webinar you will:

  1. Explore how organizations are pursuing a more integrated testing approach to mitigate risks in introduction of new channels (such as social media and mobile communications) to increase the risk of change that customer interaction in one channel will impact another.
  2. Explore the heightened importance of non-functional tests such as security testing, accessibility testing, and assessment of operational readiness.
  3. Learn how QA can put to work the new tools such as cloud infrastructure and on-demand testing (Testing-as-a-Service) as options to meet demands.
  4. Explore the role of new tools in the market that enable QA to pass through this paradigm shift.

In this web seminar, Manoj Narayanan (LinkedIn profile) and Murali Bandaru analyze the changes that QA organizations are making to adapt to this need for faster responsiveness. While agile is a favored response, many organizations, especially retailers, are increasingly adopting a rapid iterative approach coupled with a strong focus on shift-left testing.

Manoj and Murali conclude with a transition framework that QA organizations can adopt to facilitate a planned transformation attuned to the demands of the world of digital commerce.

Live Webinar October 12th, 2012 2:00 pm – 3:00 pm EDT
Duration: 1 hour webinar Credits: 1 PDU Category A – $15 USD PDU
Presented by: Solutions Cube Group (REP 2451)

Project methodologies recommend assessing the current project environment and building the project plan early during Project Initiation.

When teams gather to assess their project Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities and Threats (SWOT) they often struggle because everyone’s perspective of the environment to be assessed often differs.

It is equally challenging to define the development approach activities for the project plan without alignment on the boundaries and breadth of the project.

The solution to these project activity disconnects is to complete the SWOT analysis and Proposed Product Service Statement after the team has created the Project Scope Statement.

Solutions Cube Group’s “Using the SWOT Analysis and Proposed Product Statement” webinar provides an in depth lesson on leveraging the knowledge gained from the Project Scope Statement to create focus for developing the both the Proposed Product Statement and the project SWOT Analysis.

Attendees will learn how the Project Scope Statement enables the team to make informed decisions for their approach for running the project (buy, build, phase, prototype). They will learn how to improve the quality of their assessment of the current environment with a SWOT analysis that is based on the clearly defined project boundaries.

At the end of the webinar, attendees will be able to:

  • Understand the role the Project Scope Statement plays in providing clarity when deciding how to plan the project effort
  • Develop a Proposed Product Statement to describe the project development approach
  • Use techniques for pinpointing relevant strengths to be retained and recognize weaknesses to be eliminated or minimized as part of the project solution
  • Understand how to use the SWOT analysis to uncover Opportunities and Threats which lead directly into the creation of the Project Risk Plan.
