Competencies Are Vital To The Success Of Individuals & Teams
Individuals need to know what level of what competencies they need for the position they hold today and for potential future jobs. In addition, there are mixtures of roles and competencies that are just as important for a successful team.
It’s true that individuals must be successful with their individual goals, but as the sum is often greater than the whole, the entire team must work well together and there are an entirely different set of competencies necessary for that to occur.
This yields a number of questions:
- What are the competencies necessary for good management and teamwork?
- How do you blend individual and team competencies?
- What is the relative importance of individual versus team competencies?
- How do you measure team competencies?
- How do you improve team competencies?
Each of these questions and more are important when reviewing the subject of the competencies of high performing teams. For this session we’re looking for the good and bad examples of successful and flawed teams, the methods and processes of measuring and improving team competencies, and how even a team of superstars can falter if not built on team competencies.
