Millenials a.k.a. Generation Y

The social media darlings – the Millenials – are entering the workforce in stride today, and bring with them a very unique set of workplace priorities and goals.

These workers value meaning behind their work more than previous generations and also carry specific expectations regarding workplace perks, flexibility, and acknowledgement of a job well done.

Understanding the motivations of these employees is imperative to staying competitive and supporting a healthy talent pipeline today. Recognition strategies are a low-risk, high-reward method of ensuring that Gen Y employees are committed to their organizations and work.

In this webcast, you will learn:

  1. The key components of any organizational recognition and rewards program
  2. What specifically motivates Millenials and how they are different from other generations
  3. What you can do in your organization today to begin to thoughtfully reward employees across the organization

“Respect The People In Your Program”
Is A Core Principle Of Lean Project Management

A Lean enterprise is an organization that recognizes that its people are the most important resource and is one that adopts high performance work practices Gittell, (2003).

In a Lean program, people are not afraid to identify problems and imperfections honestly and openly in real time, brainstorm root causes and corrective actions without fear, and plan effective solutions together by consensus to prevent the problem from occurring again.

To achieve this early on in the project life cycle, the project team must develop shared understanding of the project its goals and constraints, its environment and the role of team members in the project.

Shared understanding can be defined as a “shared, organized understanding and mental representation of the key elements of the team’s relevant environment” Mohammed & Dumville, (2001).

Traditional project management relies on the development of shared understanding as a result of teamwork during the project life cycle. Although such understanding is eventually developed in most projects the cost of limited shared understanding early on in the project life cycle may be significant as the most important decisions are made during the early phases of the project.

In this session we present the result of our research in which MS Project and Simulation Based Training (SBT) were used to develop shared understanding among project team members in a pre-project phase. In a set of controlled experiments project teams analyzed project requirements, performed trade off analysis and developed efficient solutions in a simulated environment.

Results show that pre-project sessions can generate shared understanding at a very low cost and increase performances substantially.

Learning Objectives:

  • Participants will explore the use of simulation software to test scheduling strategies as part of their overall project risk management activities.
  • Participants will examine the concept of using predefined project simulations for on the job training within the workplace environment.

Are your business analysis capabilities
Where they need to be
For the outcomes you want to have?

The research is mounting: Companies with poor business analysis will have three times as many project failures as successes; and 68% of companies are likely to have a marginal project or outright failure than a success due to the way they approach business analysis.

In a world of corporate restructuring, changes, and mergers, business leaders are looking to incorporate business analysis into their project management to improve project success and bring more value to the business.

In this one-hour webinar by BA expert John Parker, participants will learn:

  • Why business analysis is a major source of failed and challenged projects
  • The importance of business analysis from both a BABOK and PMBOK perspective and how to use the practice to address the PMBOK Stakeholder Management Process
  • What upfront and ongoing business analysis activities can reduce scope creep and improve project success
  • How to integrate key business deliverables into the work breakdown structure

Participants will leave with clear takeaways for how to integrate business analysis and project management for spectacular results.

Modern Analyst will also provide you with a few assets like an Analyst Brief titled “A Guide to PM/BA Collaboration” and more.
