As governments look to strike a balance between the three basic objectives of healthcare systems – access, quality and patient safety, and choice – consumers are demanding integrated end-to-end solutions.
This consumer push is driving governments on both sides of the Atlantic towards models that integrate provision and transfer risk through patient-centric care.
This change in thinking by governments is forcing companies to change their approach as well. To remain competitive, companies are moving from traditional product-based models to customer-based value and outcome models.
This fundamental rewiring of the business is creating advantages for companies that can move quickly and capitalize.
While governments and companies try to adapt to these new needs, digital channels are creating more informed and empowered consumers – forcing both governments and companies to adapt even more.
These forces and others are driving change within the healthcare industry. The big political and societal question that remains is – what should the state provide and how is patient-centric healthcare developing in an era of expanding role of government? This presentation will examine many of these questions and others.
Objectives:
- Understand the new challenges health systems and project managers are struggling with and how today’s health systems are not designed to change patient behavior and need consumers to be active in their own care;
- Outline the three basic objectives healthcare systems and project managers must balance and how governments are taking different approaches of reaching the goal of integrating provision and transferring risk through patient-centric care; and
- Identify the increasingly digital channels customers are leveraging and discuss how project managers are creating more informed and empowered customers.
