The Sessions
James Archer: Facilitative Leadership
James will share his story which demonstrates the power of facilitative leadership in real projects. He’ll cover how BAs can set an example and help people decide what should be done in difficult situations. Business Analysts are often in the privileged position of being able to see how different parts, or silos, of an organisation really operate.
Penny Pullan: Business Analysis and Leadership – Influencing change
This year, Penny introduces the BA Summit and the whole topic of Business Analysis and Leadership. Adapted from her well-received BA2013 panel session, she explores the world of leadership now and how it has changed over the years. She’ll introduce a leadership framework for BAs and those who want to influence change, and answer your questions on BA leadership.
Melanie Rose: Business Analysis for Iterative Delivery
The iterative Business Analyst adds real value though clarifying the objective(s) and breaking down requirements in order to release early, get feedback and refine a plan. They ask ‘What’s the simplest thing we can do to meet the (perceived) customer need?’ and ‘how can we confirm we are on the right track?’ Melanie is an evangelist for iterative thinking practice and can’t wait to address your questions on the ways in which all organisations can embrace iterative delivery and change management, irrespective of the project methodologies used.
Roger Mawle: Leading from the Middle
Business analysts have a pivotal role on projects and are integral to their success. However, the value they deliver is put at risk if they are relegated to a more junior role and begin to underestimate the importance that they have to their project. In this session, Roger will answer your questions on leading from the middle as a business analyst and how you can grow your influence and delivery effectiveness as a business analyst.
Nick de Voil: Best Practices and Business Analysis
Nick’s involvement with the business analysis community includes mentoring BAs and acting as member experience director for IIBA UK. In these roles, he has become more convinced than ever of the need to take a balanced approach to standards and best practices. In his session, he will introduce his views and answer your questions to close the summit for 2013.
