Dr David Hillson is known as The Risk Doctor (YouTube, Risk Doctor website) and speaks on Managing Risk in Projects: New Concepts

Everyone knows projects are risky, and project risk management is our attempt to address this. There is wide consensus on project risk management basics, but the continued failure of projects to deliver consistent benefits suggests that the problem of risk in projects has not been completely solved.

David Hillson suggests that this is due to limitations in the way we think about risk. Starting from a pre-definition of risk as “uncertainty that matters”, David describes four types of uncertainty that must be addressed by our project risk management process, as well as challenging our view of what matters.

Take your risk management to the next level by ensuring that your approach includes every uncertainty that matters.

Presenter: Dr David Hillson, PMI-Fellow HonFAPM FIRM FRSA FCMI CMgr is well-known internationally as a leading thinker and expert practitioner in risk management, and he consults, writes and speaks widely on the topic. David specializes in both strategic and tactical risk, with a particular interest in opportunities and risk attitudes.

David has received several awards for his work in developing risk management, including the PMI Fellow Award (2010), the PMI Eric Jenett PM Excellence Award (2011), and the PMI Distinguished Contribution Award (2002). He is also an Honorary Fellow of the UK Association for Project Management (APM), a Fellow of the Institute of Risk Management (IRM), and is a Chartered Manager and Fellow with the Chartered Management Institute (CMI).

  • Identifies techniques that can shorten the time it takes to complete projects, reduce documentation of projects, and increase overall understanding of your projects

Presented by: The Lazy Project Manager

This Presentation will look at some learning experiences fromThe Lazy Project Manager‘s time running a major PMO inside of Siemens; in particular with the early project phases when the partnership of supplier and customer was often tested to the limit.

As both parties climbed the learning curve of understanding – the supplier to understand the customers’ business and the customer to understand the full potential of the solution(s) offered by the supplier – there are plenty of opportunities to ‘get it wrong’ and for unexpected impact to occur as a result.

Added to this challenge both also needed to overcome the wall of miss-appreciation that the ‘sales’ or pre-project process cheerfully built as high as possible.

This process is known as ‘the Journey of Expectation Management’ and the presentation will look at one process and one set of tools used to minimize the ‘journey’ issues and to maximize the ‘arrival’ at the right destination.

This presentation provides insight in to the process and the tools that were used to ensure that project customers received the best possible business benefits from their IT investment, whilst not experiencing any ‘unexpected’ surprises (shocks) along the way.

Peter has been described as ‘perhaps the most entertaining and inspiring speaker in the project management world today- So join him and explore the early project phases when the partnership of supplier and customer can be tested and how to overcome the wall of miss-appreciation.

Presenter: Peter Taylor is a dynamic and commercially astute professional who has achieved notable success in Project Management. With over the 26 years experience in various business areas Peter has excelled in MRP/ERP systems with various software houses, Business Intelligence (BI) , and product lifecycle management (PLM) with Siemens. He has spent the last 7 years leading PMOs and developing project managers and is now focusing on project based services development with Infor.

Peter is also an accomplished communicator and leader speaking at PMI Chapters/Congresses and the author of several books including The Lazy Project Manager: How to be twice as productive and still leave the office early and ‘Leading Successful PMOs‘ (Gower) and teaches leadership to business professionals with ‘The Lazy Winner‘. Presented by: The Gabriel Institute

Teamability®:
The Ability To Connect With Others
To Form A Productive Team

Individual strengths can lead to a personal triumph,
But a team is greater than the sum of its parts.

Rich Karlgaard, Publisher of Forbes Magazine, recently wrote an article entitled “Teams Matter. Talent is Not Enough.”

In essence, it is a challenge for executives to find and exploit the ‘magic’ of team synergy.

The metrics of teaming now exist! Even the most extraordinary individual effort is no substitute for great teamwork. Teaming metrics are key to improving selection, increasing engagement, and vastly reducing new-hire turnover, all with measurable business value.

With TGI Teamabilityâ„¢
PMs will be able to create extremely strong teams.

In this introduction you will learn:

  • A completely new technology will help you understand why talented, experienced people do not always ‘team’ well with others.
  • How to reduce the costs and risks associated with errors in hiring and promoting,
    • Metrics and methods that measure and predict ‘teaming’ behaviors.
    • How to effectively analyze and solve team performance problems.
  • How to deliver significant business value by matching people to the functional mission of their team
    • The ‘who fits where’ and the ‘why’ of winning teams
    • Behaviors that impact quality of team interaction and ‘fit’ to job responsibilities
  • How it possible to reliably select high quality team players, and to match their job responsibilities to the way they envision themselves serving their team (their ‘Role’).

This is a MUST TAKE opportunity to help you understand the strengths of your team members placing them in the roles that will make your projects even more successful!
