With the Wave 15 release of Office 365 many organizations will increasingly be considering using SharePoint Online.
However if you currently have deployed SharePoint 2010 or earlier On-Premises, than you face the double challenge migrating to Online and upgrading to a new version of SharePoint.
Unfortunately there is no simple script to run, and there many challenges and decisions to make when migrating from SharePoint On-Premises to Online.
This session covers:
- The real life example of international charity who have migrated their 350 user SharePoint 2010 system to a Wave 15 SharePoint Online deployment.
- The key decisions within the project will be discussed, to understand how their system mapped to Online and how it also presented an opportunity to rethink aspects of the system.
- Specific focus will be given to custom functionality, including branding, and how this was addressed Online and also in a version upgrade.
- The session will also cover content migration and security, discussing options which were considered including third party tools
- Finally an overview of how the project was delivered will be presented, giving guidance on a realistic roadmap for a migration to Online.
