Gen Z – People born Between 1994 & 2010

Gen Z represents 23 million Americans born between 1994 and 2010. Having grown up post 9/11, in the wake of the great recession, Gen Z is an emerging group that your entire company needs to understand, from HR to marketing.

This digitally native generation has never known a world without the internet.

Soon this generation will start to seize entry-level positions at companies worldwide and have different behaviors, needs and work styles than older generations.

Dan Schawbel has spent the past year learning about Gen Z through a global research study which spanned across the world, from America to China to South Africa.

The first of its kind, the study sought to understand the implications of this generation from both a workplace and consumer perspective.

Dan found that while Gen Y is more optimistic, Gen Z is realistic and has a strong sense of career management, philanthropy and entrepreneurship.

This self-sufficient and tech savvy generation also pose new threats and opportunities for managers, marketers and HR professionals.

Presenter: Dan Schawbel (LinkedIn profile) is a Managing Partner of Millennial Branding, a Gen Y research/consulting firm and author of the #1 international bestselling book, Me 2.0. this webinar is based on his latest book Promote Yourself: The New Rules For Career Success. He is a columnist at both TIME and Forbes, and has been featured in numerous publications and magazines.

Cognitive scientists tell us that we are more productive and happier when our behavior matches our brain’s hardwiring—when what we do and why we do it matches the way we have evolved to survive over tens of thousands of years.

One problematic behavior humans have is that we are hardwired to instantly decide who we trust. And we generally aren’t aware of these decisions—it just happens. In this webinar, Linda Rising explains that this hardwired “trust evaluation” can get in the way of working well with others.

Pairing, the daily stand-up, and close communication with the customer and others outside the team go a long way to overcome our instant evaluation of others.

Linda Rising (LinkedIn profile) will help you gain a better understanding of this mechanism in your behavior and what agile processes can do to help, you are more likely to build better interpersonal relationships and create successful products.

In the beginning of his career as a PM (in his early 30s) Emmanuel had to manage multinational Research & Development projects in “advanced materials”. Indicatively, a project had to do with the development of a technique to produce nano-powders for very hard scrap, another created bio-materials for implants, another created coatings for new generation turbine blades etc.

The project team members (were each managed his own team) where highly acknowledged senior (50+) scientists – giants – from different countries around the globe e.g. EU, Armenia, Russia, India etc. Quite a few of these very intelligent people did not acknowledge the need for project management especially when the research was confidential.

The presentation will have to do with how can you survive and lead these projects were you have to deal with giants.

What are the essential skills, techniques and how PMP tools (PMBOK©) support you in difficult situations.

Presenter:  Emmanuel (Manos) Sofianopoulos (LinkedIn profile) BEng, MPhil, PMP® is a materials engineer with 14 years of experience in managing multicultural teams.  Since 1988 he has been managing multinational projects (some with up to 11 country partners).    He is an acknowledged expert of the European Commission contracted to provide support services to Nano-material research projects and to promote Innovative Management Techniques in small enterprises. He has also managed projects on policy and employment issues.
