Live Webinar September 25th, 2014 11:00 am – 12:30 pm EDT
Duration: 1 Hour 30 Min Credits: 1 PDU Category A – Free PDU
Presented by: Computer Aid Inc IT Metrics & Productivity Institute (Rep 2733)

Software projects are often strategic business transformation initiatives within the organization.

Given the high stakes involved, one of the approaches for successful project delivery is formulating an objective stakeholder driven measurement model for improved decision making.

The Goal-Question-Metric (GQM) framework is an objective and stakeholder driven measurement model with eight measures for hybrid COTS (Commercial off-the-shelf) and bespoke types of software projects.

The eight measures are:

  1. Function Points (FPs),
  2. Lines of Code (LOC),
  3. McCabe’s Cyclomatic Complexity (VG),
  4. Cost Performance Index (CPI),
  5. Schedule Performance Index (SPI),
  6. Sigma level (Cpk),
  7. Defect Density (DD) and
  8. Defect Removal Efficiency (DRE)

… Pertaining to the five project attributes namely:

  1. Size,
  2. Complexity,
  3. Schedule,
  4. Cost and …
  5. Quality

Automating your build and deployment process helps implement consistency and gets your developers focused on what’s important – developing code!

Save time and effort by automated the build and deploy process.

You will learn how the build service compiles your source code, packages into binary code, runs unit and automated tests against the new build, and optionally deploys the code to a production environment.

Attendees will see a live demo of setting up a build definition, configuring continuous integration, running a build, and deploying the build output to a production server.

Live Webinar – September 25th, 2014 2:00 pm – 3:00 pm  EDT
Presented by: Eclipse Project Portfolio Management
Duration: 1 hour 1 PDUs Credits: Category C 1 PDU- Free PDU

Project Portfolio Management (PPM) initiatives are expected to provide significant benefit to multiple roles within an organization.

Intuitively, most staff can understand the potential value in the organization, process and technology changes involved with a PPM initiative. However, the lack of change management practices through a PPM initiative’s implementation is one of the most common reasons for their failure. Symptoms of this issue can include poor executive commitment, resistance or political pressure from functional management and compliance issues with project teams.

Eclipse will review common misconceptions about PPM initiative implementations, provide some guiding principles for successful change and detail the steps and key communication messages necessary to gain buy-in from executive and functional management as well as from project teams.

This webinar will also provide tips that can be incorporated into the initiation and planning of your PPM initiative to increase your odds of success.

Who should attend this webinar?
C-Level Management, IT Directors and Managers or Directors of PMOs

Live Webinar Sept 24th, 2014 – 10:00 am – 11:00 am EDT
Duration: 1 hour webinar Credits: 1 PDU Category A – Free PDU
Sponsored by: Global Consulting CoP (REP #S029)

Idea Mapping is a powerful whole-brained visual thinking tool that enhances memory, note-taking skills, thought organization, planning, creativity, and communication.

It uses color, key words, lines and images to connect thoughts associatively. Idea Maps are the natural expression of the way the brain processes information associatively.

The human brain is better at processing information when it is presented visually. Despite this, however, most communication is linear rather than visual.

By converting the information that is received into an idea map, you create relationships which will help clarify the information contained.

For a limited time you can get:

  • Kindle Book Summary of  Summary: Idea Mapping – Jamie Nast [Kindle Edition] This 32 page summary explains how idea mapping enables you to plan more effectively, allow others to understand you better, and permits more connections between logical ideas and creativity.

Note: You do have to be a PMI® member to register for this opportunity.

In this hour-long webinar, Global Knowledge instructor and PMP-certified project management expert Daniel Stober (LinkedIn profile) will look beyond the triple constraint model and focus on the true essence of project success: stakeholder satisfaction.

Many project managers (PMs) fall into the familiar habit of managing based on the constraints of time, cost and scope. While all of these are important, managing them effectively doesn’t guarantee project success if the PM fails to conduct proper stakeholder management.

To manage stakeholders effectively, the PM has to set expectations. Once expectations are set, the PM must influence the perception of project performance with the stakeholder. Tune in as Dan explores methods you can use to accomplish that goal.
