This high energy session introduces a ground-breaking approach to thinking about communication as an organizational design parameter to support the effective use of core organizational enablers.

Successful program delivery is critical. High performing programs, successfully delivered, power efficient day-to-day operations and drive long term, strategic growth.

High performing program organizational environments deliver needed solutions that drive competitive advantage. However, even the most mature enterprise can fail to execute high performing programs, impacting operations, strategy and long-term success, particularly in competitive environments.

This presentation is focused on the underlying principals at work within organizations that deliver high performing programs and a revolutionary new way to understand and utilize the power of communication to create an organizational environment using the core organizational enablers which ensures long-term success and the delivery of competitive advantage.

Learning Goals:

  1. An enhanced awareness of the importance of communication as an organizational design element to support the core organizational enablers and determine program outcomes.
  2. Case studies from U.S. Defense programs, UK civil works and global projects where effective communication design across all stakeholders led to successful delivery.
  3. Case studies where ineffective communication within the organization team led to disastrous outcomes.
  4. Introduction of a new, robust method for using communication to support the effective use of core organizational enablers to design, lead and manage organizations that deliver high performing programs.

Presenter: Mark Phillips (LinkedIn profile) is an accomplished CEO and the author of Reinventing Communication: How to Design, Lead and Manage High Performing Projects, a book about project management, system design and complexity.  Mark has written articles for the APM Community Blog including Having no plan beats a bad plan and Be a better leader by picking the metrics.

Risks exist on projects because by definition, projects possess uncertainty. Organizations that ignore risks experience reduced project success rates due to the wasted effort and delays that result from dealing with issues.

Risk management methodologies address this challenge but tend to be too theoretical or require significant process discipline or historical data to be practical.

During this webinar you will learn practical, lightweight best practices for managing risks throughout a project’s lifecycle.

Benefits of managing risks through this approach include:

  • Improved project predictability
  • Improved ROI for your overall portfolio
  • Quantification of cost & schedule contingencies

Did you know that Transition management practitioners have suggested that over two thirds of failed outsourcing relationships are due to transition-related challenges?

  – Beulen, Tiwari, van Heck, 2011

The lack of specific literature on this subject, has led to many misconceptions, starting with vocabulary, which can sometimes lead to misunderstandings when discussing transition with non-experts.

An IT Outsourcing relationship always starts with a Transition, which is typically a complex program composed of several interrelated projects which can affect nearly every key aspect of the client business.

The goal of this webinar is to give you a high level understanding of transitions challenges in the context of an IT Outsourcing relationship.

Stephane will first describe the key phases of an IT Outsourcing and the associated vocabulary. We will then focus on the Transition, looking at what makes it different from many IT projects.

Presenter: Stephane Chalvin (LinkedIn profile) PMP is a French citizen that lived in the USA and UK. He has over 20 years of international IT experience. He has been leading IT Outsourcing Transitions and Transformations for large global accounts since 2006, most recently as a Transition Director for a global IT service provider.
