Live Webinar December 8th, 2014 – 12:00 pm – 1:00 pm EST
Duration: 1 hour webinar Credits: 1 PDU Category A – Free PDU

While Baker officially used the term ‘stakeholder’ in 1962, as project professionals we began to work to actively engage them and meet their expectations in the last 10-15 years.

Now on programs and projects with greater complexity numerous internal and external stakeholders with varying degrees of interest and support are the norm and not the exception.

This presentation will focus on nine Federal Government or quasi-Government programs and projects and will talk about guidelines to best engage stakeholders with specific examples and lessons learned.

It will describe project work for a dead stakeholder, a missing stakeholder, negative stakeholders, and positive stakeholders and how to achieve a balance in one’s time in working to help turn negative stakeholders into ones who are hopefully positive or neutral while maintaining the support of positive proponents.

Dr. Ginger Levin has worked in the IT/IS field for 48 years.
The IT/IS field has changed tremendously over this time!

These IT/IS programs and projects include work done as a U.S. Federal Government employee and in consulting for public and private sector organizations.

Each program and project had some highs and also some lows, and all were and are learning experiences. Some were global, and many used virtual teams.

They were completed on time and within budget. Many of the consulting projects were won through competitive Requests for Proposal.

Dr. Levin, an active member of PMI, also is a member of the Association of Proposal Management Professionals, and assisted in the development of the Business Development Capability Maturity Model (BD-CMM) in conjunction with the Business Development Institute.

In this webinar, Ginger will discuss experiences and lessons learned with nine selected IT/IS endeavors. She will discuss her work with OPM3 and will conclude with an overview of the recently released Version 2 of the BD-CMM.

The webinar will cover the following points:

  • Covers successful approaches for stakeholder engagement
  • Focuses on the importance of customer relationship management
  • Describes some key lessons learned
  • Emphasizes the importance of on time, within budget delivery especially in IT

This talk will focus on new approaches for business leaders looking to harness data solutions, tools and platforms for building robust business opportunities.

Rod Smith, who leads IBM’s Emerging Internet Technology group, will discuss some early proof-of-concept ideas that are uniquely addressing customer challenges and opportunities.

You will hear about future technologies and open source projects that are demonstrating great promise for customer engagement, including:

  • Notebook IDEs
  • Spark
  • Big Data Analytics Stack
  • Visualization
  • Cloud Computing

One big change for future solutions is who’s the new boss – and clearly not the same as the old IT boss.

Tech savvy business leaders frustrated with the rate & pace of IT to meet their needs are taking development into their own departments.

Data scientists and engineers now are sitting at the table with decision makers who are expecting the use of big data analytics to have immediate insights & impact.

Last millennium tools like BA workbenches or IDEs don’t meet the expectations of fostering business team collaborations like web applications do today – and their tolerance is low with regards to geeky explanations.

Even the notion of an application seems outdated as business units see their business contexts continually changing.

This talk will focus the shifting and emerging landscape that most businesses find them selves navigating in the data world, and how today’s successful businesses are capitalizing on insightful data as a distinct corporate advantage.

Sign up now to hear how you can get your business ahead in today’s data-intensive world.
