Live Webinar – December 18th, 2014 2:00 pm – 3:00 pm EST
Presented by: Eclipse Project Portfolio Management
Duration: 1 hour 1 PDUs Credits: Category C 1 PDU- Free PDU

Organization structures in most companies today make resource management a daunting task. A lack of visibility into resource allocation and capacity, consistent prioritization and validation of actual work versus planned, contribute to this challenge.

Over 50% of IT organizations surveyed use their “best guess” when determining what capacity IT has to perform projects in a given period.

This webinar presents the fundamentals for creating and implementing a Resource Management Model using people, process and technology. A Resource Management Model is a set of processes that provide visibility, decision support and structure to effectively manage people in an organization.

Allocating resources based on availability and fit, supported by standard processes, will improve the success and predictability of projects across your organization.

Rebels at Work: A Handbook for Leading Change from Within challenges the assumption that leadership comes from a position of power or authority.

With practical advice and guidance, authors Lois Kelly and Carmen Medina—rebels in their own right—will help empower you by transforming the way you present your ideas and engage your coworkers and bosses.

Attendees will learn:

  • The difference between good and bad rebels at work.
  • Common fears about pushing for change and how to manage them.
  • Do this first: understanding how things work at work.
  • Creating a rebel alliance, avoiding hero worship.
  • Positioning and communicating ideas so people pay attention (and maybe even help you.
  • Using conflict and controversy productively.
  • Tips for staying sane and resilient.
  •  And …When to quit.

Carmen thinks most organizations don’t have a good way of determining when it’s time to transform and/or “sell” their current business model.

Heretics, mavericks, and rebels at work can provide organizations with the important early warning system they so desperately need.

Presenters:

Lois Kelly (LinkedIn profile, O’Reilly bio) co-author of Rebels at Work and the award winning Beyond Buzz: The Next Generation of Word-of-Mouth Marketing is a student of change and has been a creative rebel throughout her career. She helps companiesd create new ways to launch products, communicate complicated issues, deal with crises, go public, adopt innovative business practices, and occasionally try to move mountains.

Carmen Medina  (LinkedIn profile, O’Reilly bio) co-author of Rebels at Work spent 32 years as a heretic at the Central Intelligence Agency.
