Function point analysis has played an important role in software measurement and analysis for 30 years.
What can we learn from trends spanning this substantial time period?
What does the “average software project” look like?
Has productivity increased or decreased?
What are the impacts of different staffing strategies?
In this webinar, QSM’s Don Beckett leverages more than 2,200 validated projects counted in function points and completed since the year 2000 from the QSM historical database to answer these questions.
It is easy to have opinions about any of these questions. QSM is fortunate to be able to evaluate them empirically. Join Don for a metrics-based analysis of these questions and more.
Presenter: Don Beckett has 18 years of experience in software project estimation, measurement, and analysis. His responsibilities at QSM include research, consulting, and customer support. Don was an analyst/co-author of the 2006 QSM Software Almanac and has contributed articles to Crosstalk and Software Tech News.

Believe it or not,
Most project failures are not the fault of the project manager,
But instead are a result of poor program management.
Even the most exceptional project manager can fail when the work environment lacks leadership, supporting project participants, or engaged stakeholders.
Whether you work in an agile, traditional, or operational environment, this overview will help you see where these worlds collide.
In this web seminar you will discover the principles and tools to strengthen your processes by learning how to create a successful program management culture.
This includes an environment of integrity, trust, with support from engaged personnel and stakeholders. And, to accomplish this feat, you will find it does not have to be overly complicated or costly.
Presenter: Kelley Bruns PMP (LinkedIn profile) has over 25 years of experience in the learning and development industry and is a PMP and a certified Development Dimensions International Facilitator. Kelley’s expertise lies in her extensive experience in a wide range of industries including banking, construction, energy, engineering, government, healthcare, manufacturing, and retail.
This year I am re-commiting to
“Practicing Gratitude” – On a daily basis!
I got busy and let it slip away and I missed it. I loved the daily practice of writing down things that make me grateful.
I found it puts it puts challenges and successes in perspective and makes me a better person, a better friend and a much better leader!
I want to thank all of our readers, for sharing precious moments from your busy day. We’ve shared nearly 5000 professional development learning opportunities since January of 2011. This has allowed me personally to grow my skills and communicate with so many of you growing yours.
THANK YOU
You Remind Me How Important It Is To
Take Time To Give Back To Others!
I want to thank my many colleagues in Project Management, Business Analysis & Agile Endeavors, who inspire me with their blogs, their writing and the opportunity to discuss project management and professional development. It really is a wonderfully diverse and fascinating international community and so many people contribute so much to benefit all of us.
THANK YOU
You Make Me A Better Community Leader!
I also want to thank my team for their hard work, patience and for the challenges they offer. I try to recognize the effort and dedication they make to the cause – and … I even want to thank them also for occasionally pointing that out at time when I may be distracted and not recognize the effort that their task requires.
To All Of You – THANK YOU
You Keep Me Centered & Happy With All I Do!
I have spent this last year exploring the dynamic effect of “Influence” change management and practical servant leadership. Creating an integrative positive culture that is supportive and effective in the workplace without the direct authority to demand the change.
The extent to which the power of Influence within the organization to create purpose and focus has honestly surprised me. The changes I see in people and the difference that management can make by simply practicing respect towards their people is well beyond what I imagined.
My path from software development team member to IT Project Management and then to Corporate Culture & Change Management has been a long and winding path. It didn’t always follow my plan. BUT… each and every experience helped make me a better person and a more humble appreciative respectful leader.
I am very Grateful to have the opportunity to help make change in an organization that needs direction and support now more than ever and I appreciate the opportunity to give back as so many have done for me throughout my career.
Feel Free to Join me onLinkedIn & Twitter …
I would be Honored to chat with you this coming year!
So to all of you…
Happy New Year’s & A Prosperous 2015!

The purpose of Agile Test-Driven Development is NOT to find the bugs in your code.
The purpose of Test-Driven Development is to make sure your code does what you want it to do, no matter what you do to it.
It is a QUALITY approach. After all don’t you want to 1) make sure your code is working as expected and 2) makes sure your code is easily modifiable.
Sounds easy right? —> Well … not exactly
Join DCG’s Tom Cagley as he explores the benefits and challenges of Test Driven Development and why it is changing the way some organizations approach coding.
