The Project Manager’s Little Book of Cheats

There is no such thing as cheating in project management,
But if there were it would be this book!

The book  is in question / answer format with 11 chapters covering 65 questions, and includes quick steps, relevant tips, fun stories, and applicable advice to solving common problems and questions focused around the work of a project manager.

Some of the questions include:

  • #12 I need to convince someone of my idea. How do I sell an idea?
  • #16 Since most of my work communication is through email, how can I make my email communication more effective?
  • #22 How can I convince those who are change resistant?
  • #39 Assumptions introduce a lot of risk. What are some common assumptions to watch out for?
  • #41 How can I tell if a project is getting off track before it’s too late?
  • #47 What process could I use to evaluate project requests to determine if they should be approved or not?
  • #51 How can I make my team meetings more productive?
  • #58 My project tracking needs have grown beyond Microsoft Excel. What are some good project management tools?

When you have a question or problem do you have time to stop what you’re doing and read a three hundred page book on a single topic?

Wouldn’t it be great if you could open a book and find a one to two page answer that you can apply immediately, in the moment when you need it?

This Is That Book

This is a  book that will sit on or in your desk and be frequently opened when questions or problems arise. Write on the pages, make your own notes, and highlight what works for you.

Join the author,  and host, Beth Spriggs, PMP, (LinkedIn profile) &  Tolitha Lewis (LinkedIn profile) for a live Q&A session.

Culture, engagement and retention are top issues for business leaders looking to improve corporate performance.

Ultimately, culture and employee engagement are a top down effort.

Listening to what your employees have to say is just the beginning—leaders must understand, find insights, and act upon them in order to improve the business.

A continuous listening strategy, from census to self-service pulse surveys, is your key to retaining, developing, and inspiring your workforce. In fact, recent IBM research shows that HR practitioners who use multiple listening methods rated their organizational performance and reputation 24 percent higher than those who do not.

In this webcast, Randi Kenney (LinkedIn profile) will share the best keynote presentations and discuss key takeaways from this year’s HCI Employee Engagement Conference.

Join her as she explores how building a culture of engagement can lead to improved corporate performance.

Note: SHRM has pre-approved this webcast for 1 Professional Development Credits (PDCs) towards SHRM-CP℠ or SHRM-SCP℠ Certifications.

What is CxQ?

We typically associate success and leadership with smarts, passion and luck, but in today’s hypercompetitive world, even those gifts aren’t enough.

Strategist Erica Dhawan argues that the game changer is a thoroughly modern skill called Connectional Intelligence (CxQ). Virtually anyone can maximize his or her potential, and achieve breakthrough performance, by developing this crucial ability.

So, what is CxQ?

Connectional Intelligence is the ability to combine knowledge, ambition and human capital to forge connections on a global scale that create unprecedented value and meaning.

As radical a concept as Emotional Intelligence was in the 90s, Connectional Intelligence is helping people enlist supporters, accelerate innovation, develop strategies and sustain solutions to big problems.

This dynamic webcast explores using connectional intelligence to boost your professional success and leadership skills. You’ll hear real-life stories and leave with an action plan to become a power player in your organization, including:

  • How anyone can excel not just through skills and smarts, but through Connectional Intelligence
  • Keys to leveraging your networks and connections, and creating contagious positive results
  • Successful tactics used to address connectional overload in changing turbulent times
  • How leaders create deep connections of fierce loyalty and respect from their team and customers
  • How connectionally intelligent leaders outperform the competition and create remarkable results

We encourage you to register even if you are unable to attend live; you’ll receive replay information following the event.

Presenter: Erica Dhawan (LinkedIn profile) Founder & CEO of Cotential, through keynote speaking, training and consulting, she teaches business leaders and companies innovative strategies to create increasing value for customers and clients, deliver sustainable results and ensure future global competitiveness.  She is the author of the bestselling book Get Big Things Done: The Power of Connectional Intelligence.
