This webinar is based on a 2-day workshop titled “AGILE METHODS or How To Implement Them Without Courting Disaster”.
The full course provides participants with the knowledge required to fully understand & implement Agile methods, and Scrum in particular.
In this webinar Louis Poulin looks at Agile methods, and SCRUM in particular, from an implementation perspective, based on observations made in the field as part of detailed appraisals of organizations that have succeeded or ailed at implementing such methods.
Louis will give an introduction & overview of the subjects that he presents in the 2 day course .
Pros and cons of Agile methods are discussed, along with the types of projects where they have proven most suitable.
Louis will also discuss each step of Scrum is and the artifacts that are used and produced during sprints are described.
Louis presents the challenges of implementing Scrum are, particularly in organizations that have been using other life cycles such as waterfall, and iterative and incremental.
The cultural transformation that Scrum entails, will also addressed. This often constitutes a formidable obstacle for many organizations.
He will stress the importance of not discarding what your organization has accomplished but rather build upon past achievements to further improve performance. The Full training course includes exercises where the Agile concepts are explored in more detail.
Finally, for organizations that have also aligned themselves with standards such as ISO 12207 and models such as the CMMI for Development, examples of meeting the intent of CMMI practices are also presented, based on organizations that have achieved Maturity Level 5 after having successfully adopted Scrum.

Presenter: Louis Poulin (LinkedIn profile) is Partner and Chief Technology Officer of GRafP Technologies Inc. He has extensive project management experience in fields encompassing software engineering, air navigation, explosives and weapons detection, and embedded command and control systems. He is the author of “Reducing Risk with Software Process Improvement” summarizing observations on risks and problems encountered by organizations involved in developing Information Technology solutions. Mr. Poulin served in the Canadian Navy as a Combat Systems Engineering Officer.
