My Story @EdmontonPm – In 1982 I read Tom Peters “In Search of Excellence: Lessons from America’s Best-Run Companies” and since then I have been on my personal search for amazing companies.

In the early 1990’s my search led me to understand the power of servant leadership and the ability to realize the incredible potential  in the individuals on my teams.

In the meantime I watched so many new hires  in organizations go from engaged, positive, creative and productive to disenchanted, and frustrated as they acclimatized to the traditional corporate culture of their new organizations.

I watched as Managers and Boards took no notice of the people and the potential they had within their organizations; and I was disappointed by so many organizations that were not striving for excellence …. but rather leaving their potential and profit on the table.

I knew it could be done – BUT WHO WAS DOING IT???

In 2015 I learned of the  Popeyes Story and how THEY are Daring To Serve!!

Under Cheryl A. Bachelder’s  ( CEO of Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen Inc. LinkedIn profile) “Dare to Serve!” Leadership she has reinvented Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen into one of America’s Best-Run Companies with:

  1. A 30% increase in sales in their average restaurant
  2. Average restaurant operating profit is up 40%
  3. Their market share among “Chicken” restaurants is up 50%
  4. Opened 450 + new restaurants including moving into the Canadian marketplace – All performing very well!
  5. Their stock price has increased from ~$13.00 USD when Cheryl started the turn around  through the Dare to Serve Model to ~$60.00 USD today
  6. And in the process they were daring to succeed, humble about their leadership path and creating Engaged Franchise Owners, Stakeholders, Shareholders, Managers Team Members, Crew & Guests to produce  “Top Notch Relationships” that led to  their great success.

In November of 2016 Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen opened their 1st  Franchise in Western CanadaIn Edmonton – (my home town 🙂 ) with Calgary soon to follow!

To celebrate Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen’s opening in Edmonton: PDU Of The Day is proud to present  again this eye opening professional Development opportunity to help you understand how you can be Brave, Humble and Dare to Serve! in your organization

Dare to Serve!

Servant Leadership At Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen!

How Courage & Service at Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen
Brought Extraordinary Results

2015 Interview Becoming  a Dare to Serve Leader

Becoming a “Dare to Serve” Leader

Webinar Description

Our culture celebrates “The Spotlight Leader.” The leader is on stage – the spotlight is entirely on them – in short, it is all about them.

This leader declares a new vision, has all the answers, and is a high achiever.  We tolerate them being a bit self-absorbed because they are going places that we want to go, and if they are successful, we will be successfulso we think.

We vaguely know there is another kind of leadership – Servant leadership. This kind of leader is known for humility.

They shun the spotlight and listen carefully to the people because they care deeply about the people. They make decisions that serve the people well; they give others credit.

We wonder about these leaders ..
But We Shouldn’t!

Watch Cheryl Bachelder, CEO of Popeyes® Louisiana Kitchen, Inc., in these informative sessions on developing a better leadership strategy!

Cheryl wants to suggest a new idea – If you move yourself out of the spotlight and dare to serve others well, you will deliver superior performance results – and she’s got the experience to prove it!

Watch Cheryl as she talks to Becky Robinson about the ideas that have shaped her own leadership journey, and make up the basis of her groundbreaking book:

Dare to Serve:
How to Drive Superior Results by Serving Others

A Must Read For Every Leader!

This webinar will provide an introduction to the basic concepts of earned value management (EVM).

Earned value management is a project control process based on a structured approach to planning, cost collection and performance measurement.

Earned value helps us manage a project by:

  • Providing data to enable objective measurement of project status;
  • Providing a basis for estimating final cost;
  • Predicting when the project will be complete;
  • Supporting the effective management of resources;
  • Providing a means of managing and controlling change.

Earned value provides information which enables effective decision making by knowing:

  • What has been achieved of the plan;
  • What it has cost to achieve the planned work;
  • If the work achieved is costing more or less than was planned;
  • If the project is ahead of or behind the planned schedule.

Good planning leads to good project execution and good management information.

This is a back to basics presentation, there is no need for any previous knowledge about earned value or experience in project controls. Using worked examples and drawing on Simon Taylor’s experience.

It will cover the following topics;

  • The earned value management principles
  • Calculating and reporting earned value
  • Understanding S curves and Bullseye charts

Anyone who is thinking about starting or has just begun a career in project controls and wants to know more about earned value should attend this webinar. It will also serve as a useful reminder for anyone wanting to refresh their knowledge on earned value.

Presented by: Mountain Goat Software (REP # 3102)

One of the challenges of agile is coming to grips with the role of leaders and managers of self-organizing teams. Many go to the extreme of refusing to exert any influence on their teams at all. Others retain too much of a command-and-control style.

Leading a self-organizing team can be a fine line.

In this session you will learn the proper ways to influence the path taken by a team to solving the problems given to it. You will learn how to become comfortable in this role. You’ll understand why influencing a self-organizing team is neither sneaky nor inappropriate but is necessary.

Presenter: Mike Cohn (LinkedIn profile) is the founder of Mountain Goat Software, where he teaches and coaches on Scrum and agile development. He is the author of Succeeding with Agile: Software Development Using Scrum, also Agile Estimating and Planning, and User Stories Applied: For Agile Software Development. With more than 25 years of experience, Mike is a frequent magazine contributor and conference speaker, Mike is a founding member of the Scrum Alliance and the Agile Alliance.
