What Is Your IT Asset Management Program?

If you have IT assets, you have an ITAM program. But how good is it?

Is it merely an inventory of hardware and software? Or have you implemented a program that was designed to protect your company from financial risk, cyber risk, loss of data assets, or a sullied reputation?

Is your ITAM program:

  • A core competency that is contributing to your organization’s success or is just another cost center?
  • Giving you a competitive advantage?
  • Increasing shareholder value?

Are you still asking the question “how do I align IT with the rest of my business?”

A well-designed IT asset management program requires the involvement of different departments in the enterprise, and a well-documented plan which covers everything from purchase through disposal and beyond.

In this first webinar in the APMG series, Roger will discuss what constitutes an IT asset management program, and why a default program is not enough.

The speaker, Roger Mallett, (LinkedIn profile) is Senior Architect and Chief Technologist for Europe, Middle East and Africa, Hewlett Packard Enterprise Software. He provides expert advice and guidance on software architecture and solutions to companies across EMEA. Roger delivers thought-leadership and strategic direction for enterprise customers often operating in complex environments and generating positive outcomes.

Roger works with many of the world’s best known companies where he is regarded as a trusted adviser in terms of their on-going IT business.  Roger is a global expert in asset management; he was one of the first to be honored as an IAITAM Fellow.

Launching a PMO in the organization is underpinned by critical success factors that are needed to ensure success.

Having the right process and technology can advance the organization’s work and support the leaders in achieving the organization’s strategy, however, the most important differentiator is people.

The work of the PMO starts and ends with people. Building the right team is not simply a best practice but onboarding the right team members ensures that the necessary buy-in is achieved and the right skills are deployed.

Once the leaders are clear on the business requirements of the PMO and the business objectives desired by the organization, the PMO journey begins by addressing  critical questions related to the team.

The questions include:

  • What functional capabilities are needed in the PMO?
  • Is there specific technical knowledge requirement for the PMO work?
  • Do team members need to understand industry requirements of the organization?
  • What structure should the PMO have and which roles will be needed to support the work?
  • What responsibilities should be defined for the roles inside the PMO?
  • Is the team tasked with building the PMO the same as the team expected to run the PMO’s day to day activities?

In addition to addressing these important questions the webinar Philip Diab (LinkedIn profile) will highlight the leadership behaviors needed in PMO professionals as well as the philosophy required to achieve success.

“I’d love to add stories and storytelling in my lessons, but they are long, tedious and hard to do, not counting the fact that it’s costly.” – Ray Jimenez

Today we are bombarded by multiple stimuli from all forms of media. Studies have shown that we are most likely to respond best to news, social media and lessons that are hard-hitting and present vivid stories.

We jump and respond quickly to the content, immersing ourselves with the story.

Stories are today’s rapid medium of communication

The challenge is: how do we as trainers, designers and developers and subject matter experts (SMEs) use the most important part of the story to catapult our learning lessons into the minds of our learners?

Learn:

  • Why are learners easily glued to moving stories?
  • What part of the story is so compelling that learners must respond?
  • How do you select the hyper-story as the important lesson?
  • How does one apply the 3-Step Hyper-Story Lesson Creation process?

Attend the webinar and receive demos and video examples in advance.

Presenter : Ray Jimenez (LinkedIn profile) – Chief Learning Architect and Founder of Vignettes Learning and StoryImpacts.com, a systems development and consulting company specializing in e-Learning and Performance Systems, eLearning course development and interactive tools and social learning community platform.

Live Webinar February 9th, 2017, 1:00 pm – 2:00 pm  EST
Activity Type: Education – Course or Training  1 Hour  1 PDU
Provider: Gartner Webinars

The pace of digital business is accelerating thus increasing the need for enterprises to transform.

Yet the No. 1 reason enterprise transformations fail is organizational culture- but if we could take the thing that is hard for most enterprises, architect a culture that is built to transform, then we’d have a source of enduring competitive advantage.

Most organizations’ approaches to change and culture are ineffective.

In this webinar Leigh McMullen, (LinkedIn profile) Gartner Managing VP, examines recent discoveries in neuroscience.

Learn how to apply them in your organization with simple techniques that you can begin applying immediately to build a culture that is ready for anything.

Discussion Topics:

  • The power of narrative and how it can help guide behavior
  • How leaders can change the way associates engage with one another, and drive a positive associate experience
  • How to put all these together in rituals to sustain your culture and ensure it remains agile
