In general, a highly effective technique to create connections is to focus on similarities — on what you have in common, instead of what you don’t..

This subtle perspective will have some pretty powerful effects.

This is exactly how you establish connections and relationships in your organization’s culture.

Don’t approach a person thinking about all the potential ways you could be different; instead, you naturally gravitate to similarities — to finding things you might have in common to form the basis of a relationship.

We tend to approach cross-cultural interactions quite differently, the same technique actually works just as well across cultures.

When focused on similarities, you’re open to — and, in fact, looking for — a potential connection. Perhaps it’s a challenge you accept in common with a team member.

You can discover these similarities in conversation, or even by picking up on things you notice — like pictures on a person’s desk, a coffee cup from a particular store you also like, or a passing remark someone makes about something you share in common.

The possibilities are endless, but by focusing on similarities you have the power to create connections and build relationships that either supersede cultural differences or make them irrelevant.

This results in a 2nd stage that helps make your work meaningful.

By finding interest in the task and overcoming the feelings of meaninglessness, you help leadership to develop a conducive environment for enhanced engagement.

Learn:

  • Approaches for connecting with the organization’s culture
  • What impedes connections
  • What meaningfulness really means
  • How to enhance meaningfulness

It’s The X Factor!

A variable workforce model can attract scarce talent, while driving significant cost savings and enhancing enterprise flexibility.

How do today’s HR professionals partner with other colleagues, including Procurement teams, to determine the ideal mix of traditional versus flexible workers (independent contractors, freelancers, temp workers)?

That is the “million-dollar” question.

This question is hard to answer because talent demand is not static and is constantly in flux.

Where do best-in-class organizations draw the line between full-time employees and flexible workers?

And if your organization isn’t using flexible workers, should you? That’s where a total talent management strategy comes in.

Learn:

  • How, and why, progressive companies are balancing their traditional, full-time workforces with non-employee workers like contractors, freelancers, temps and SOW workers
  • The strategic benefits of taking a blended approach to your workforce
  • When and where to leverage flexible workers
  • How to build a step-by-step action plan unique to your organization
  • How to mitigate risks involved with the contingent workforce
  • The strategic value of building a talent community

In this session, Kimball Norup (LinkedIn profile) SVP Marketing & Alliances, Synergy Services & Kieran Brady (LinkedIn profile) COO, TalentWave will show you how a variable workforce model can be your X Factor!
