Part 2: Blended Learning: A Four Dimensional Problem

When designing a blended learning solution, you need to think about a much more complex choreography than you would for traditional face-to-face solution.

You need to consider how to integrate content, learners, facilitators, producers, and technology throughout the process.

Every participant in this “dance” might be doing something independently, but the outcome needs to be a synchronized flow of information.

Christopher King willexplore a process that blends the benefits of deliberate instructional design with informal learning’s focus on performance—the Learning Experience and Performance (LEaP) Plan.

It identifies the content best delivered via formal instruction, and which content belongs in the “70 and 20.” It meets learners where they learn today, then greets them back in the workflow, when they shift from “Learners” to “Performers.”

Chris, specializes in crafting Performance Support solutions and delivering successful projects, most recently for the Department of Homeland Security and the Federal Transit Administration. Christopher is currently experimenting with applying Agile techniques to Instructional Design projects. He speaks regularly at industry events.
