Launching a PMO in the organization is underpinned by critical success factors that are needed to ensure success.

Having the right process and technology can advance the organization’s work and support the leaders in achieving the organization’s strategy, however, the most important differentiator is people.

The work of the PMO starts and ends with people. Building the right team is not simply a best practice but onboarding the right team members ensures that the necessary buy-in is achieved and the right skills are deployed.

Once the leaders are clear on the business requirements of the PMO and the business objectives desired by the organization, the PMO journey begins by addressing  critical questions related to the team.

The questions include:

  • What functional capabilities are needed in the PMO?
  • Is there specific technical knowledge requirement for the PMO work?
  • Do team members need to understand industry requirements of the organization?
  • What structure should the PMO have and which roles will be needed to support the work?
  • What responsibilities should be defined for the roles inside the PMO?
  • Is the team tasked with building the PMO the same as the team expected to run the PMO’s day to day activities?

In addition to addressing these important questions the webinar Philip Diab (LinkedIn profile) will highlight the leadership behaviors needed in PMO professionals as well as the philosophy required to achieve success.

Women account for more than 50% of the U.S. Labor force and 60% of college graduates in both the U.S. and Europe. Yet, women hold only 5.0% of CEO positions at S&P 500 companies.

In addition, research has identified an individual’s emotional intelligence as a key aspect and driver of leadership effectiveness.

EQ assessment have found men and women to be equally emotionally intelligent, but strong in different areas. These differences often advantage men and disadvantage women at work.

As HR professionals, it’s essential to understand the issues that keep women from advancing as part of your development and retention strategies.

Dr. Shawn Andrews (LinkedIn profile) will discuss findings from her doctoral dissertation research on Leadership, EQ and Gender.

Topics include:

  1. The leadership gender gap,
  2. Barriers to leadership, gender-specific EQ competencies,
  3. Gender culture
    • Which lead men and women to approach virtually every aspect of business differently.

Practical strategies for building a more diverse & inclusive workforce, as well as individual career advancement strategies will be discussed.

Learning Objectives:

  • Explore the scope of the leadership gender gap
  • Examine barriers that limit women’s career advancement
