Women account for more than 50% of the U.S. Labor force and 60% of college graduates in both the U.S. and Europe. Yet, women hold only 5.0% of CEO positions at S&P 500 companies.
In addition, research has identified an individual’s emotional intelligence as a key aspect and driver of leadership effectiveness.
EQ assessment have found men and women to be equally emotionally intelligent, but strong in different areas. These differences often advantage men and disadvantage women at work.
As HR professionals, it’s essential to understand the issues that keep women from advancing as part of your development and retention strategies.
Dr. Shawn Andrews (LinkedIn profile) will discuss findings from her doctoral dissertation research on Leadership, EQ and Gender.
Topics include:
- The leadership gender gap,
- Barriers to leadership, gender-specific EQ competencies,
- Gender culture
- Which lead men and women to approach virtually every aspect of business differently.
Practical strategies for building a more diverse & inclusive workforce, as well as individual career advancement strategies will be discussed.
Learning Objectives:
- Explore the scope of the leadership gender gap
- Examine barriers that limit women’s career advancement

Improving organizational Requirements Maturity is a strategic approach to improving project success and aligning IT with the business to meet objectives on time and on budget consistently.
According to the recent IAG BA Benchmark study of 437 large and medium organizations in North America and Europe, the organizational level of Requirements Maturity is directly proportional to the likelihood of project success.
Companies invest millions of dollars in recruitment, hiring, and training of Business Analysts every year without a detailed understanding of the role and how to integrate into the enterprise; the average Requirements Maturity level in North America is only 1.8 on a scale of 1-5, and only a fraction of those measured qualified at a level 3 or higher.
For individual and organizations that are serious about improving in a consistent and measurable way, IAG will explain the key concepts and results you can expect by improving organizational Requirements Maturity
Learning Objectives:
- The impact of requirements maturity on overall business and project objectives.
- The Requirements Maturity Model.
- A high level roadmap to improving requirements capabilities.

However, in this presentation I would suggest to you that by using simple principles from complexity thinking you might be managing uncertain contexts and decisions much better.
In the presentation Eitan Reich (LinkedIn profile) will describe how exactly complex, dynamic situations are different from simple and even complicated ones.
Also learn about key principles of complexity thinking that would be useful in your change projects and for your decision making, planning and managing processes.

Discussion Topics:
- The root cause of this dichotomy and how can it be eliminated
- The difference between a successful project and a successful application
- How future application projects can ensure delivery of successful applications

L&D business partners can provide significant value to their organizations by helping current and future business leaders to build the resilience to operate in a turbulent (“VUCA”) world.
Many challenging development questions co-exist in today’s business environment:
- How do we prepare senior-level directors to move into executive roles, where they will need to take business performance to the next level?
- How do we get our high-potentials to organize and operate as a business team, prioritize, and chart their own course as proactive change makers?
- How can we build business acumen, a growth mindset and emotional intelligence across functional areas?
A competitive business simulation is an immersive experiential exercise that can provide a powerful testing ground to address all of these fundamental challenges that face organizations across industries.
Learn:
- How a simulation can help participants to think and act systemically as a (future) business leader – learning to see and manage connections
- How to design a competitive business simulation, how to make it interactive, and in which situations to deploy it
- How the concept of meeting commitments translates to more robust operational plans, more effective strategy execution, and better business results
Presenter: Philip de Vroe (LinkedIn profile) Associate TRI Corporation, specializes in corporate education, experiential leadership and simulation programs. He aims to make strategy, finance and leadership enjoyable and easier to understand. Phillip, based in The Netherlands, travels theglobe to conduct leadership simulation programs, as well as the writing of new case studies and business simulations. His Finance Storyteller YouTube channel has videos ranking at or near #1 on several search terms.
