In his introduction to the 2016 report How Millennials Want to Work and Live, Jim Clifton, Chairman and CEO of Gallup, Inc., asserts, “Millennials will change the world decisively more than any other generation.” One reason for this, Clifton writes, is that millennials want to change the world—by doing meaningful, passion-driven work within “organizations with a mission and purpose.”
This craving for passion and purpose is one element that’s attracted millennial employees to Beyond Emancipation (B:E), a nonprofit serving soon-to-be-emancipated and former foster youth in Alameda County, California.
However, in a profession where burnout and turnover are high, the challenge for B:E is to retain and develop employees so they’re empowered to do transformative work in their clients’ lives, in their communities and in the world. B:E has addressed this challenge by weaving coaching into every aspect of the organization’s operations, from an innovative coaching-based client services model through a coach approach to employee supervision.
In this webcast, Paula Buck, (LinkedIn profile) B:E’s (Beyond Emancipation) Operations Manager, and HR Generalist, will share how her organization has built a strong coaching culture that empowers employees of all ages and at all stages of their careers to succeed in their careers and drive meaningful social change.
Learn:
- Why training managers and leaders in coaching skills can transform the supervisor-supervisee relationship
- Strategies for infusing coaching into all aspects of your organization’s day-to-day operations
- How to balance an integrated coach approach and structured opportunities for team and one-on-one-coaching
- What one organization is doing to measure the effectiveness of coaching across the enterprise
Note: SHRM has pre-approved this webcast for 1 Professional Development Credits (PDCs) towards SHRM-CP℠ or SHRM-SCP℠ Certifications.

- Do you often find that when something fails in production, the response of a development team member is, “It works on my machine or at our end, you must be having the wrong version“?
- Vice Versa on the other side of the table – do you find that the operations team always feels that the developers are not sensitive to the operational requirements and constraints?
If so, does that mean we are just developing software not a working system ?
Are we just working in Silos ?
DevOps aims at breaking the Silos and bringing in a culture of everyone “getting along”.
In this session Priya discusses how and why DevOps is the force behind the evolution where the development team and operations works together with business sponsors and quality assurance (QA) to deliver software that can be released to production at any point of time.
This webinar will highlight:
- What is DevOps and what is it not?
- DevOps Principles and Values
- Team’s transformation to DevOps
- Typical DevOps Delivery Model
- DevOps Benefit Measurement Mechanism
Presenter: Priya Patra (LinkedIn profile) is a CSM (Certified Scrum Master), TOGAF 9.1 Certified Enterprise Architect, and Lean Six Sigma Green Belt, IGATE Certified Internal Auditor. For a midsize enterprise intending to create a new digital product, Agile methods and DevOps should be the preferred approach.
Sometimes called “Agile done right”, DevOps is a philosophy and a way of life for many successful enterprises even though there is no definitive framework or defining authority.
Continual learning and improvement are at the heart of DevOps and so even if organizations start at the same place, they will be significantly different in just a few cycles.
But that doesn’t mean that there aren’t good, practical rules for starting, improving and scaling.
In this webinar Ian Head (LinkedIn profile, Gartner bio) Gartner Research Director, will tell you what we believe DevOps is today and 7 steps you can use to get started.
Discussion Topics:
- What is DevOps?
- Why do we need it?
- What are the seven steps to a successful DevOps initiative?
