Improving Project Handover

Online Webinar  – Recorded April 12th 2018
Activity Type: Education – Online or Digital Media  1 PDU – Free
Provider: Association for Project Management – APM

In this webinar Owen Anthony will focus on practical ways to improve the transition from project delivery into business as usual.  Looking at lessons learned from other schemes and sharing success factors that support better handovers of schemes, the emphasis will be to help projects deliver benefits.

Billions of pounds are spent globally every year on projects and much has been written and taught about how to manage them as effectively as possible, but if they are not then handed over well, what is the point?

Without focusing on how to pass the project into the business as usual/ end user environment, the chances of the project delivering the benefits it was commissioned for in the first place are significantly reduced.

Owen led an APM research fund study which aimed to identify how handovers can be improved. The study drew upon learning from other organisations including Crossrail, The Ministry of Defence, Mediacity and many others.

The purpose of this talk is to share the findings of the research report, along with some practical tips and recommendations that can be applied to projects to improve their handover.

Presenter: Owen Anthony (LinkedIn profile) Programme Manager,Sheffield Hallam University. Prior to joining the University, Owen has been a pr project / programme manager for 15 years working in the public sector (NHS, Local Authority) and consulting (Mott MacDonald and Owen Anthony Projects) on a diverse range of projects from education and healthcare construction to IT, service redesign, and move management schemes. Intercultural Gaps Threaten Many Projects

National cultures, job cultures, enterprise cultures, generational cultures: any gap in those components can lead projects to face culture clashes…and additional problems.

Yet, project managers can not only actively manage those gaps, but also leverage them and thus extend leadership skills.

In this webinar Robert de Quelen (LinkedIn profile) & David Colliquet (LinkedIn profile) will highlight which levers project managers can use to identify and proactively manage intercultural factors within the project, and suggest practical ways to develop an intercultural leadership style which can be effective both at personal and team level.

Note: You have to sign in to ProjectManagement.com with your PMI® credentials to register for this opportunity. If you are not signed in with your PMI® credentials you will not see the “Register for this webinar” link
