Digital Business Transformation Is A Journey

Most CIOs think they are executing digital business transformation, but in reality there is a big gap between desire and deliver.

CIOs can close this gap by using a digital business transformation map to guide their journey.

The map includes finding landing points and places of high intensity transformation with other leaders.

in this session Kristin R. Moyer (LinkedIn profile, Gartner bio) Gartner VP Distinguished Analyst  will explore ways that CIOs can move their organization from desire to deliver when it comes to digital business transformation.

This includes creating urgency, telling stories, finding a transformation landing point and moving into high-intensity transformation.

Discussion Topics:

  • The digital transformation journey
  • Ways to successfully deliver on digital business transformation
  • Make key emerging technologies work while balancing human and machine culture

Research show that around 80% of our knowledge comes from our experiences and that of others. And we learn this by sharing experiences and stories.

In spite of this, there is a strong bias – most training and learning programs focus on the 20% content handed down by instructions and lessons.

  • Why is this bias so strong?
  • How do you make a shift to take advantage of rich experiences to accelerate the learning of your workers and team members?

In this session, Ray will cover:

  • What are causes and challenges in adding Story and Experience Sharing in most training programs?
  • Where and how does Story and Experience Sharing help in accelerating learning?
  • What are the key steps in incorporating experience sharing in your courses?
  • What are proofs that this approach works?

Most projects involve contracts with external providers or suppliers of good and services. Those taking on the role of project managers therefore need to know and understand the basics of contract law in order to be effective and avoid risks being ‘gotchas’!

Most projects involve buying something from an external provider. This can range from ‘off the shelf’ widgets to complex contracts for multi-million packages.

Regardless, if you don’t know the basics of contract law, both in the procurement and ‘in-contract’ management phase, you can inadvertently put your organisation at significant commercial risk.

On the other hand, if both parties clearly articulate and understand their legal and contractual obligations, then the project is far more likely to be a success.

What does this mean?

Having a basic knowledge of contract law is an essential pre-requisite for an effective project manager!

This is a three-part series of one hour webinars, each tackling a distinct issue.

This third and final webinar in the series, is on tackling the issue of what to do when things go wrong or the unexpected happens.
Breakdown in performance; Frustration and Force Majeure; Resolving Disputes; Bringing it all together.

Presenter: Sarah Schütte (LinkedIn profile) is a UK-qualified solicitor-advocate for Schutte Consulting Limited. With 16+ years’ experience, with a wide variety of industry clients to support their projects, disputes, corporate and project risk management and insurance strategies and training programmes, both in the UK and abroad. Sarah has developed a niche practice in planning, programing and project management (PPM and P3M), project controls and the law. She advocates confident and competent contract and commercial management, and focuses on putting law into practice so that project management practitioners develop essential knowledge and skills.
