The road to using artificial intelligence and big data in project management is not straightforward, and there is no need to make the full trip today.

Projects are rich in data by nature and use technical, business, schedule, cost and additional types of data on a daily basis.

However much of the data that’s already in existence is either not being used, partially used or is hard to get to. The trick is not to use all the data available, but ask the right questions and support answers with smart data.

In this session Nicki Kons BSc., MBA, MA, PMI-RMP, PMI-PMP, (LinkedIn profile) will present a simple maturity model  to help project professionals navigate their way through the different options: from projects and organizations that have very little data, through the different project environments.

Gain knowledge in:

  1. Asking the right questions.
  2. Assessing data maturity.
  3. Making incremental steps for better data use to deliver project benefits, results and deliverables.

Let’s face it. Most of us don’t work in best-in-class project organizations. But… most of us don’t work in worst-in-class organizations either – although many of you might say you are closer to this designation.

The fact is that too many organizations have basic problems executing projects. Let’s just call them “challenged”.

The projects rely on heroics from project managers and team members. They have to since your organization does not have good processes that you can repeat over and over again for project success.

In this webinar Tom Mochal Pmp PgMP TSPM ITBMC (LinkedIn profile) will discuss the top ten organization challenges that make it difficult to complete projects successfully.

That is the easy part. Tom will also provide insight into some ways to elevate your organization to a higher level. That is the hard part.

We won’t set expectations that there is one technique or approach that will magically make everything perfect. But there are logical techniques and approaches that can help you improve. This webinar will help you decide which ones make sense for your organization.

Online Webinar – Recorded February 7th, 2017
Activity Type:  Education – Online or Digital Media 1 PDU – Free

Warning: Your data is not all neatly defined, structured, organized and secured in your datacenter.

Determining or defining the data that matters most, where it is or will be stored, who is or will be responsible for it must be clearly understood and defined in order to be GDPR compliant and for your data to be properly secured.

The impact of big data projects, the continued migration to cloud platforms and applications, IoT projects, blockchain experiments can create new threats if a clear governance strategy is not in place.

In this webinar, Merv Adrian (LinkedIn profile, Gartner bio) Gartner Research VP will help you determine what you need to do to be compliant and ensure data security in 2018 and beyond.

Discussion Topics:

  • How to balance compliance with business requirements
  • Adequate data protection in a public cloud

Managing Risk In Programmes

Live Webinar – July 2nd 2018 7:30 am – 8:30 am EDT
Live Webinar – July 2nd 2018 12:30 PM – 1:30 PM BT
Activity Type: Education – Course or Training  1 Hour  1 PDU
Provider: Association for Project Management – APM

Programmes are risky undertakings and require proactive risk management, but programmes are not large projects, and programme risk management is different from project risk management.

In this presentation David Hillson explores the unique and specific characteristics of managing programme risk, providing a clear understanding of the challenge as well as practical guidelines to deal with it.

Programme risk management is focused around risk efficiency, allowing risk exposure to be balanced across the programme.

It is also necessary to handle programme-level risks, as well as risks which have been escalated from programme components.

A unique two-phase approach is proposed for handling these different types of risk in programmes, using both implicit and explicit techniques.

Finally, the presentation outlines the challenges remaining in developing a robust and effective approach to management of programme risk.

Presenter: Dr David Hillson  known globally as The Risk Doctor (www.risk-doctor.com), David is a thought-leader and expert practitioner, who speaks and writes widely on risk management. He blends thought-leadership with practical application, presenting it in with clarity & humour.  Guided by his motto: “Understand profoundly so you can explain simply” he has advised major organisations, governments, & charities in over 50 countries, on how to create value from risk. He has received many awards for his ground-breaking work in risk management, (Honorary Fellowship of APM, PMI Distinguished Contribution Award etc), and has developed significant innovations that are now widely accepted as best practice.

What Can Children Teach Us about Project Management?

As surprising as it may seem, the art of raising children leverages many of the same skills as managing a project team.

Fostering the growth of a child’s mind requires the creation of a positive atmosphere comprised of love, trust and enablement. Similarly, in working with teams, we strive to create an atmosphere of open communication, collaboration and trust.

This webinar will highlight and examine 7 things you can learn from kids that apply to project management:

  1. Play group dynamics are a lot like team dynamics
    • no one should be left out
    • we should respect the will of the group
  2. To gain cooperation, timing is everything
    • never seek it on empty stomachs or after a long day
    • understanding what motivates others is the key to maintaining collaboration
  3. Learning moments need to be seized and capitalized on
    • capitalize on the sense of urgency for maximum effect
  4. How to combat peer pressure
    • being unique doesn’t mean you don’t fit in
  5. Working through conflict means learning to work it out
    • bullying hurts everyone, especially the bullier
  6. Value everyone’s talents and approach
    • not everyone learns the same or thinks the same
  7. Be consistent when applying support, rewards, corrections and routines
    • it will reduce anxiety and set a pace
