Technology has huge promises, particularly in terms of project management. People have been building software to manage projects better for pretty much the last five decades.

Despite this, we typical struggle as project managers to use technology well. Part of this is a challenge of what the software does.

Part of this is a product of how it is implemented. And part of it is a product of how we try to use (or not use) what gets put in place.

Technology can be a huge enabler to project management, or it can be a giant anchor weighing down how projects get done. Ironically, the same software can figure in both of these scenarios. Part of the challenge of management projects well depends on the software that you buy.

A lot more depends on our actions, behaviours and expectations.

In this webinar, Mark Mullaly (LinkedIn profile) author of Researching the Value of Project Management dives into the world of project management technology.

It explores what works, what doesn’t work and what needs to change if we’re going to use technology effectively. It looks at the barriers that exist within the technology, as well as the barriers that we often create within our organizations.

If you’re trying to manage projects well, and are fervently hoping, needing or wanting technology to help to make that happen, you’ll want to join us for this one.

Activity Type: Education – Course or Training  1 Hour  1 PDU
Provider: SD Times (Software Development Times)

Mastering large-scale software delivery will define the economic landscape of the 21st century, just as the mastery of mass production defined the landscape in the 20th.

Unfortunately, business and technology leaders are woefully ill-equipped for the Age of Software because they are using management paradigms from past technological revolutions.

While technologists adopting DevOps and Agile have already made the transition, the gap between modern technical practices and the business has only widened in the process. A new approach is needed.

During this webinar, Dr. Mik Kersten (LinkedIn profile) will present the Flow FrameworkTM – a new approach to software delivery that spans the language of the business with the language of technology and enables the transition from project to product.

Fifteen years ago, author Michael Lee Stallard worked in Wall Street where he observed the cultures of merging organizations didn’t mesh, and the differences sabotaged post-merger performance.

Michael wanted to do something about it so he left the Street and conducted research to better understand organizational culture.

To his surprise, despite the common view, Michael found there is a “best” type of culture when it comes to helping an organization thrive, especially during times of change, when strategies are evolving and attracting, engaging and retaining talent is essential to achieve sustainable superior performance.

He named this fine culture a “Connection Culture” and contrasted it with cultures of control and indifference that isolate people.

Michael teams up with HCI for the fourth #StorytellingTuesday webcast, during which you can get Michael’s latest report on a Connection Culture, including how people analytics and workforce planning, together, are instrumental to achieving the human connection that is essential for both individuals and organizations to thrive, no matter what comes their way.

Presenter: Michael Lee Stallard (LinkedIn@michaelstallard) delivers keynote speeches, teaches workshops, coaches and provides consulting services to help leaders create high-performance workplace cultures.  He is the president of E Pluribus Partners, a consulting firm and co-founder of ConnectionCulture.com.  Mike is a weekly contributor to the CEO Advisor column for Fox Business Network and the author of Connection Culture: The Competitive Advantage of Shared Identity, Empathy and Understanding at Work and Fired Up or Burned Out: Reignite Your Team’s Passion, Creativity and Productivity.

SHRM has pre-approved this webcast for 1 General recertification credit hours toward aPHR™, PHR®, PHRca®, SPHR®, GPHR®, PHRi™, and SPHRi™ recertification through the HR Certification Institute.

Four strengths project managers must possess in order to share and pass on vital information about the profession to new practitioners is the “L.O.V.E.” or “Learn, Offer, Value, and Educate” philosophy.

The L.O.V.E. philosophy focuses on the human as the keystone of the project since they are the ones who plan and implement the project process – and they are the ones who complete those projects.

In this webinar Chris Greco (LinkedIn profile) will examine this philosophy and discuss how you can apply these characteristics to your projects and relationships.

Examples and case studies from the public service industry, military, private industry, and academia, will be reviewed.
