Live Webinar January 23rd, 2019 – 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm EST
Activity Type: Education – Course or Training  1 Hour  1 PDU
Provider: Human Capital Institute

In April 2018, the California Supreme Court’s Dynamex ruling created a tectonic shift in California which severely narrowed the definition of how workers can be classified as true, independent contractors.

Less than a year later, this ruling still has businesses scratching their heads and looking for answers.

To interpret what the ‘usual course of business’ means when defining a worker as an independent contractor or an employee, legal experts are naturally taking a conservative approach when classifying or reclassifying a “worker”.

TalentWave will take you on their journey in first understanding the new law, interpreting how it applied to their client-base and finally their insight into what the future might hold.

Learn:

  • Implications of Dynamex since the decision was announced and what we’ve learned since April 2018.
  • What advice the legal community is giving California businesses.
  • TalentWave’s views on worker classification in California and the cost impacts.  We’ll share some interesting math based on real client data.
  • Potential legislative changes given the pressure from gig employers and the desire of workers who want an alternative to traditional employment practices.

Join Roberto Cruz, (LinkedIn profile) VP Compliance, Senior Legal Counsel, TalentWave  & Neal Bhamre, (LinkedIn profile) Senior Vice President, Industry Solutions, TalentWave as they walk you through the implications for you and your organization based on this business changing court ruling.

Activity Type: Education – Course or Training  1 Hour  1 PDU
Provider: Gartner Webinars

Over the past year, IT leaders have shifted from asking “should I move from projects to products” to “how do I get the organization to change.”

Many people in lines of business, executive management and even IT will be uncomfortable or even combative about making the switch from projects to products and agile.

Concerns include funding models, perceived lack of control, and losing the iron triangle of scope, time and cost.

In this strategy and planning webinar, Bill Swanton, (LinkedIn profile) Gartner VP Distinguished Analyst, delves into the forces necessitating the shift to products and agile, the “what’s in it for me?” arguments for various stakeholders and tactics for helping the change occur.

Discussion Topics:

  • Gain agility and better serve application product customers
  • Get value sooner and achieve flexibility in responding to changing conditions
  • Overcome the cultural and managerial challenges of making the change to product and agile

Design thinking has emerged as a major trend for how innovative organizations are approaching problem-solving.

Design thinking encourages innovative solutions by drawing on approaches from engineering and design, and combining them with ideas from the arts, social sciences, and the business world.

Design is “old news.”  As Project Managers, we are late to this party.

This is a call to action to my fellow Project Managers: “The future of Project Management is deeply linked with Design.”

In this webinar  Bruce Gay (LinkedIn profile) will demonstrate the benefits of incorporating design on projects while providing a high-level overview of methods and tools.

Live Webinar –  January 16th, 2019 10:00 am – 12:00 pm  EST
Activity Type: Education – Course or Training  2 Hours  2 PDU free
Provider: IAG Consulting (REP 2858)

This 2 hour webinar is a perfect course that will give most PMs and BA’s everything they need to mitigate risk and be successful in their roles.

In this two-hour webinar you will learn the essential concepts of data modeling required of today’s Business Analyst and Project Manager.

Effective requirements definition requires a fundamental understanding of data modeling.

This webinar lays a foundation of the essential aspects of defining the data model and requirements for a project. IAG believes very strongly in this key Business Analysis competency.

Every Project Manager and BA involved in requirements definition and modeling needs to know these critical concepts.

Without a solid basis of data modeling skills, there is a significant risk that quality and value of use-case, business requirement, and business rule documentation will be significantly compromised.

For someone involved or responsible for the business requirements, business architecture or business analysis on a software development project, there are large number of questions to be answered.

  • Do I need to be an expert in data modeling?
    • (No, by the way)
  • How detailed do I need to define the data,
  • Why do I need a data model – especially if we’re working on an existing system?
  • Do I need to produce a logical data model?
  • Do I need to know normalization theory
    • (Hope not)?
  • What do we do about data if we’re ‘Agile’?
  • What about modeling or data definitions for a Business Intelligence project?
  • When and how do I gather data requirements with the SME’s?
    • What’s the best way?

Learning Objectives:

  1. Understand the key concepts of conceptual and logical data modeling
  2. Learn the steps to building a data model
  3. Write clear and concise and consistent data definitions
  4. Apply acceptable modeling principles
  5. Use/apply consistent naming standards
