Shifting defect discovery to earlier activities (Shift Left) reduces rework and improves quality deliveries to customers.  A lot of attention is paid to this part of “Shift Left and Down”, but how do we do the Shift Down?

Root Cause Analysis (RCA) is the answer. A variety of techniques can be used with varying formalities, cost, and results; ranging from informal, 5-why, Ishikawa/fishbone to Cause-Effect.

  • Which technique is the right one to use, and when should it be applied?
  • Is your organization ready for RCA?
  • What do you do with the results?

These questions and others will be discussed by Ed Weller, (LinkedIn profile) who will draw on 20 years of experience using RCA and onsite training across a wide range of businesses

In this free webinar, Rex will discuss these points and more, helping you be more effective in Agile projects.

Roles in quality assurance (QA) and quality engineering (QE) tend to be ambiguous for agile teams pursuing the DevOps approach in their software development lifecycle. And misconceptions around these roles, automation, and which agile ceremonies make sense in DevOps only complicate the issue.

In this web seminar, Melissa Tondi will share her insights into how she consults with organizations—from startups to Fortune 100 companies—on ways QA and QE roles can add value to DevOps. She will discuss innovative ways to align agile and QA/QE activities to ensure a consistent, efficient, and productive playbook for DevOps.

Learn How To:

  1. Retune test automation to make DevOps more efficient
  2. Shift traditional QA and QE tasks left in the software development lifecycle
  3. Make refinement meetings more efficient for all members of the team
  4. Improve definitions around what is shippable and what is not

Presenter:  Melissa Tondi (LinkedIn profile) spent most of her career working with software testing teams. Founder of Denver Mobile and Quality (DMAQ), Past President & Board member of Software Quality Association of Denver (SQuAD), & professional services manager at Rainforest QA: she assisted companies to continuously improve the pursuit of quality software. Melissa has focused on building and organizing teams around three major tenets—”Efficiency, Innovation, &  Culture” using the greatest common denominator (GCD) approach for determining ways team members can assess, implement, and report on day-to-day activities.  In this way the gap between need & value is as small as possible.

CIOs must change the stories they tell and the metrics they share with business leadership to effectively communicate the value of IT.

The story of ITs value must start with what the business executives care most about. It should then convey how IT is supporting and enhancing those executive goals and objectives.

In this webinar  Robert Naegle (LinkedIn profile, Gartner bio) Gartner VP Analyst explores the challenges of communicating the value of IT to business leaders and the requirements for building IT metrics that matter. We lay out a framework for defining, communicating and measuring the value of IT to your business.

Discussion Topics:

  • Identify and capture your organizations pain points to establish IT’s true value to the business
  • Connect IT-delivered applications and services to business outcomes
  • Communicate to business leaders how IT enables business outcomes

By 2025, regardless of industry or sector, senior leaders and managers will spend at least 60% of their time selecting, prioritizing, and driving the execution of projects.

In fact, soon “we will all become project leaders, but many of us are not prepared for this shift.”

According to recent research, the number of individuals working in project-based roles will increase from 66 million (in 2017) to 88 million (forecast 2027). And the value of project-oriented economic activity worldwide will grow from $12 trillion (in 2013) to $20 trillion (forecast 2027). Those are millions of projects requiring millions of project leaders per year.

In this landscape the percentage of work activities performed as part of projects is markedly increasing as projects are becoming the essential model to deliver change and create value around the world. The so-called gig economy is also driven by projects.

How Does An Organization Plan For A Major Spike In Its Hiring Needs?

Of course, a willingness to be flexible is important; however, there are specific steps beyond this that will help an organization bring best-fit talent on board and get them up to speed quickly.

Retail like many other industries has been fundamentally transformed by consumer expectations not only in the store but also online.

This webinar features DICK’S Sporting Goods, Inc., a leading sporting goods retailer, that was challenged to not only attract technical talent to support their growing eCommerce business, but also needed to recruit candidates for in-store positions during the peak holiday hiring season.

During the webinar, JP Elliott, Ph.D., (LinkedIn profile) Vice President of Talent at DICK’S Sporting Goods and Shannon Seery (LinkedIn profile) Senior VP & General Manager South, Symphony Talent will share insights about how this Fortune 500 employer:

  • Built an Employer Brand that expresses their key pillars of purpose, teamwork and innovation
  • Activated its brand across multiple channels to recruit “best fit” candidates both for their stores and their growing technology needs
  • Achieved 94% of its Seasonal Hiring goal with marketing technology, up against major competitors like Target and Walmart
  • Generated excitement and urgency through relevant sponsorships and in-person experiences, including a “National Signing Day” during their peak hiring season

This webinar will be of interest to any organization looking for ways to use their employer brand to attract candidates in new markets, during seasonal hiring spikes, when opening new facilities and/or recruiting outside their traditional talent pool.
