Many technologies could solve the challenges and opportunities facing any organization. The question IT leaders must answer is, “Which ones are right for my organization, and when?”

IT and non-IT executives alike frequently turn to their enterprise architecture programs for answers. The technologies change, but the variables for innovation appetite remain the same.

The appetite for innovation, however, can vary from person to person within an organization.

In this webinar Philip Allega (LinkedIn profile, Gartner bio) Gartner VP Analyst explores how EA leaders can determine the appetite for innovation, set proper expectations and help deliver technology innovation for the entire organization.

Discussion Topics:

  • Understand when EA leads innovation
  • Identify critical metrics to determine technology innovation success
  • Learn how to deploy Gartner’s customizable innovation framework

Live Webinar – March 10th, 2020 1:00 pm – 2:00 pm EDT
Activity Type: Education – Course or Training  1 Hour  1 PDU
Provider: SD Times (Software Development Times)

The benefits of implementing Agile and DevOps have been well proven for years now, yet a large number of organizations are still struggling to scale DevOps practices across the enterprise.

Why?

Because enterprise IT has to support hundreds of applications across many different, highly-regulated, environments all operating at different speeds. But going fast does not always equate to efficiency.

A multimodal approach to software delivery, with multiple deployments in different places happening at different speeds works fine, as long as the organization understands what they need to transform now, what can wait until later, and what should be ignored.

Join Mark & Julian as they deflate the hype around DevOps and provide a no-nonsense, real-world view of how your organization can gain operational efficiencies and deliver value to your customers.

Presenters:

Mark Levy (LinkedIn profile) Director of Product  Marketing, Application Delivery Management, Micro Focus

Julian Fish (LinkedIn profile) Director, Product Management Micro Focus Release & Deployment solutions;  has 20+ years experience in the IT industry, starting in quality assurance before working in domains as diverse as infrastructure management, database administration, software development, release engineering, and IT operations. In recent years, Julian has helped large organizations transition their development and release management processes from traditional to continuous delivery based approaches.

If you’ve been testing for any length of time, you know that the number of possible test cases is enormous if you try to test all possible combinations of inputs, configuration values, types of data, and so forth.

It’s like the mythical monster, the many-headed Hydra, which would sprout two or more new heads for each head that was cut off. Two simple approaches to dealing with combinatorial explosions such as this are equivalence partitioning and boundary value analysis, but those techniques don’t check for interactions between factors.

A reasonable, manageable way to test combinations is called pairwise testing, but to do it you’ll need a tool. In this inaugural

In this “One Key Idea” session, Rex will demonstrate the use of a free tool, ACTS, built by the US NIST and available for download worldwide.

Rex can’t promise to turn you into Hercules, but you will definitely walk away able to slay the combinatorial Hydra.

Presenter: Rex Black (Amazon profile) is President of RBCS, a leader in software, hardware, and systems testing. RBCS employs the industry’s most experienced and recognized consultants, RBCS conducts product testing, builds and improves testing groups and hires testing staff for hundreds of clients worldwide. As the leader of RBCS, Rex is the most prolific author practicing in the field of software testing today.
