The problem with PowerPoint? It’s too easy. Everybody can create slides in about an hour so nobody dives very deep. Here are a few deep dives to uncover features, functions, and shortcuts that you need to have in your toolbox.
One year at the Presentation Summit, we asked people a simple question:
How much time did you spend learning PowerPoint?
Almost everyone answered less than one hour, and a few people said 15 minutes. These same people went on to use the software for years, and in many cases, teach it to others. And we are surprised that PowerPoint is vilified and demonized?
This session fills up your toolkit with the things you should have learned long ago but never bothered to because the software is pretty easy to start using so that’s what you did: you just started using it. You use the blunt instrument of your own will and persistence, even though there are shortcuts, features, and hidden capabilities that would allow you to work so much quicker and so much more intelligently.
That’s what this hour will be all about. We’ll take hand to mouse, open up the interface, and present a collection of tools that you should never have to live without.
- Your very own quick access toolbar
- Just enough knowledge about templates and color schemes to stay sane
- How the Selection and Visibility Pane can save your career
- Hyperlinks in PowerPoint? You bet
- Everything you never knew about cropping photos
