As the UK began to address the impact of the Coronavirus (COVID-19), the resulting lockdown has had a huge impact on the way we work. The last months have seemed like a lifetime and we’ve had to change at a pace and scale we would not have previously anticipated or even considered workable.

Our professional lives have had to be rapidly reassessed: some of us have been furloughed, others are finding that remote and flexible working is the norm rather than an outlier; only 30% of UK employees ever worked from home during 2019, according to the Office of National Statistics (ONS).

Our personal lives and caring responsibilities have become more complex in a short space of time.  As we work from home whether in a corner of the living room, a spare bedroom or a dedicated home office with or without interruptions from family or pets we wonder about our previous ideas over work-life balance.

Our emerging ‘new normal’ is different and we don’t yet understand what a next ‘new normal’ might look like: we know what we are going through is emergent change while we are still improving our understanding of COVID-19 epidemiology and its total impact.

A team of experienced project managers who will be familiar to many of you: Sarah Coleman, Vicki Griffiths, Ian Cribbes and Tim Lyons began to gather and collate stories, research, reflections and insight drawn from the P3M community under the heading Lessons from Lockdown.

In this webinar Ian Cribbes will provide a summary of their findings and pose the question “where do we go from here?”

Presenter: Ian Cribbes (LinkedIn profile) FAPM has worked with a wide variety of organisations within the UK and internationally, leading projects with values in excess of £35 million pounds.  Ian is a co-opted member of the People SIG committee and an active member of the Stakeholder Engagement Focus Group.  Ian now runs his own company assisting organisations with programme and project management issues and advising on stakeholder engagement processes.

For years, storytelling has been used to pass down history, customs, rituals, and legends. Because a good narrative can tap into our emotions, we’re more likely to remember the story.

By weaving narrative and curriculum together, we can provide our learners with an experience that can not only entertain them, but improve retention.

Learn how to:

  • Start with a character your audience can relate to
  • Use emotion to better help information stick in their brains
  • Let your audience become part of the narrative

We’re all storytellers, whether that’s telling stories to our children, posting pics from our latest trip, or sharing our weekend adventures with colleagues. Why not use the power of storytelling in your course too?

HR and People strategies are always evolving. We’re far from the days of traditional annual surveys, and more companies are starting to embrace the idea of continuous listening strategy.

Similar to building a culture of feedback, continuous listening means gathering feedback more often across the employee lifecycle.

When people give and receive ongoing feedback, they’re able to engage more as well as grow and develop faster.

During this webinar, Dr. Ken Matos (LinkedIn profile) will explore:

  • The definition of continuous listening strategy,
  • How it’s enabled by technology and in-person feedback,
  • How companies have found success with frequent employee and performance feedback, and
  • How you can get started.
