The whole process of project risk management involves people.

Unfortunately (or maybe fortunately) people are influenced by numerous heuristics (rules of thumb) and biases.

These influences, if not understood, can negatively impact the project risk management process making the outputs less realistic and useful.

The presentation will draw on the work of Dr Ruth Murray-Webster (LinkedIn profile) and Dr David Hillson (known globally as The Risk Doctor) and in particular ‘the Triple Strand’ – which highlights the combined influence of conscious factors, sub-conscious factor (heuristics and biases) and affective factors on the both the perception of risk as well as risk attitude.

While the whole risk management process is influenced by these factors, the first three stages of the process are particularly susceptible – Inhiation, Identification and Assessment. The particular influences on these areas will be discussed.

There is no ‘silver bullet’ that can be used to overcome these influences. However, a better understanding of will help. Those attending will certainly gain from this insight.

Presenter: Peter Simon, (LinkedIn profile) BSc FAPM HonFAPM PMP   has 40+ years experience as a PM consultant & practitioner across all industries and business sectors. Activity Type: Education – Course or Training  1 Hour  1 PDU

Why do some HR technology approaches succeed while others fail? An astounding 70% of HR software implementations are deemed failures, according to Mercer Consulting.

This means that 30% were successful. What was it about the process these successful organizations went through to find the right software? What were their key objectives? What questions did they ask during the vendor search? What did they understand about the implementation before project kick-off? What did they consider at each stage of the process, from selection to go-live?

If you could find enough companies who have succeeded and work backwards to understand how each of those companies achieved that success, you’d start to notice that the things they considered along the path to that success are often the same.

Those are the findings of Patrick Sayers, president of Newcastle Research and he’s ready to share these key considerations – and more – with you in this free webinar. This is your chance to finally know how to assess HR software in a way that gets you the right fit for your needs.

Join Patrick Sayers, (LinkedIn profile) President Newcastle Research, to learn about some of the most important things successful companies consider on the path to a successful HR technology strategy.

After this webinar you will know:

  • The most important considerations successful companies factor in when assessing new HR software
  • The key questions you need to ask yourself to evaluate your department’s needs
  • The #1 thing to consider when choosing a new vendor when going through a reseller can be a good thing – and when it might be cause for concern
  •  Red flags to watch out for during the sales process

Online Webinar – Recorded August 14th, 2019
Activity Type: Education – Online or Digital Media 1 PDU – Free
Provider: Training Magazine Network

The perception of learning programs in your organization is a fundamental factor in determining the success of those initiatives.

That perception begins with past experiences, and if you are working to enhance and improve outcomes, that sometimes means you have a big uphill climb just to encourage participation.

Learning programs and initiatives can benefit from many of the principles of effective change management – among those is the importance of effectively communicating the importance and purpose of the program – from the perspective of the participants.

Branding is an excellent way to communicate that message to your team. It provides a solid opportunity to communicate the importance and purpose of an initiative, and it encourages team building and alignment around that common purpose.

Join Dr. Allen Partridge , Adobe eLearning Evangelist, for this free online webinar describing the potential of branding your learning initiatives.

In this session you will learn:

  • Why should you brand your learning initiatives?
  • How can you brand learning programs?
  • What should you do to prepare to brand your learning programs?
  • How does a brand encourage team-building and common purpose?
  • How does defining your brand improve your ability to effectively understand your audience?

Presenter: Allen Partridge, Ph.D. (LinkedIn profile) is a senior technology evangelist at Adobe Systems and has 20+ years of experience in e-learning, education, games, and multimedia development. Allen is recognized for his many online video tutorials and e-seminars, which are a mainstay for e-learning developers and trainers learning to create effective online educational materials.

A three-year project requiring the capture of high-resolution aerial imagery and 3D LiDAR data for the British rail network

Focus in this session will be given to the challenges faced by Akrim from Atkins in the capacity of a Project Manager in dealing with a diverse range of stakeholders on the National Aerial Survey Project delivered by Atkins for Network Rail.

Mohammed Akrim (LinkedIn profile) will highlight personal insights into what helped him successfully complete a three year National Aerial Survey project on time, under budget and with no service disruption.

Aerial data is used by Network Rail as part of its Digital Twin initiative to support planning upgrades, asset management, maintenance access planning, vegetation management and post incident investigation.

The project will help Network Rail reduce service impact, predict maintenance requirements and improve trackside safety by minimising the need for lineside visits.

Akrim worked with a variety of stakeholders including suppliers sub-contractors, various Network Rail Teams, data users and the Intelligent Infrastructure Programme to manage the helicopter based capture of high resolution photographic imagery and high definition 3D data for the entire 17,000 km of the UK Rail network.

Atkins has also been involved in supporting the delivery of innovative tools turning the aerial data into valuable railway insight, including global award winning Track and Vegetation Management tools.

The project has won the Digital Technology Excellence Award, Rail Business Awards 2020, and Global Asset Management Innovation Award, IAM, 2019 and has been a finalist in several other award nominations.
