Guidance, Training & Certification

Vast sums of money are invested in projects, programs, and change initiatives across all sectors and industries.

Business cases or spending proposals typically act as the catalyst for change yet initiatives often fail at the first hurdle as the business case fails to convince senior management of the return on investment.

This creates a major problem for project teams as they struggle to secure funding for essential change initiatives, simply because the justification for change is insufficient to persuade those that authorize funding.

Additionally, projects and other change initiatives are at risk of failure (time, scope / cost / benefits realization) if the business case fails to accurately scope critical aspects of the initiative. This is of particular importance in the public sector where taxpayer funds are at stake.

Creating effective business cases and spending proposals is therefore critical to securing funding and management buy-in. It is important that individuals have the opportunity to develop their capabilities to create, review, and adapt effective business cases.

After this one-hour session, learners will be able to:

  • Describe the Green Book and Five Case Model, official guidance, and basis for APMG certification exams

For many of us, uncertainty can be nerve-racking. That reaction, however, obscures a crucial fact: uncertainty and possibility are two sides of the same coin.

Chances are that some of your biggest achievements and transformational moments came after a period of uncertainty—one that felt stressful but that pushed you to accomplish something great. Uncertainty doesn’t have to be paralyzing.

In this live, interactive HBR webinar Nathan Furr & Susannah Harmon Furr, coauthors of The Upside of Uncertainty: A Guide to Finding Possibility in the Unknown will share insights from their research on innovators and changemakers who have thrived amid uncertainty.

They will describe:

  • What they learned about resilience and tolerance for ambiguity
  • Principles that can help navigate uncertainty
  • Tools for seeing and seizing the upside in uncertainty
  • How to develop a vision for succeeding through uncertainty

Whether you’re searching for courage to start a new project, change careers, launch a business, develop an idea, or reinvent yourself after a disappointment or life change, you will undoubtedly face uncertainty.

Though these moments are difficult, they offer opportunities for personal growth, innovation, and creativity.

Join Nathan and Susannah to learn the mental models, techniques, and reflections for seeing the upside of uncertainty, developing a vision for what to do next, and opening yourself up to new possibilities.

Experts and futurists are unanimous that the NEW important skill for all workers is critical thinking.

Why is that?

The reality is that we are in a global economy where change is rapid, the unpredictability of events abound, there is the shrinking of the new workforce, and of course, digitalization.

Many of the roles demand beyond the usual tasks and roles. They need to be self-directed and constantly critically thinking about how to solve and manage the unknowns and unpredictability of work.

Learn:

  • How do unpredictability, uncertainty, and rapid change mold the new workers?
  • How do training and learning address these problems?
  • How does the  NEW Critical Thinking compare to the old one?
  • What is the new skill in expanding thinking capacities?
  • What are the cases that show the value of critical thinking to banks, credit unions, farming, manufacturing, processes, government, and IT?
  • How would you design learning that starts with critical thinking and ends with learning as a result?
