Both waterfall and Agile methods rely on process. With waterfall you might have detailed scope definition, robust schedules, and rigorous change control processes.

With Agile you might focus on three stand-up questions, iteration planning, demonstrations, and productive retrospectives.

Process is great, but we have to move beyond following a process without questioning if it is the most effective way to deliver value. That’s the beauty of hybrid project management. Hybrid project management is about delivering value – not simply following a process.

An accomplished author and facilitator, Cyndi has written a dozen books on project management and trained thousands of project managers. Cyndi has been the Chair for three editions of the PMBOK® Guide. In 2009 she was awarded PMI’s Distinguished Contribution Award and in 2018 she was presented with the PMI Fellow Award.
