The ability to think both creatively and critically is an invaluable skill set at the heart of effective problem-solving.

While at first glance creating and critiquing may seem like opposites, they are in fact deeply connected… and part of an ongoing generative cycle.

To solve challenging problems, we need to explore them holistically — to unleash our imaginations while also applying structure and discipline to our thought processes.

Topics Christa will cover in this webinar include:

  • The intimate connection between critical thinking and creative thinking
  • The importance of defining the right problem
  • Common cognitive biases that can diminish innovation
  • The difference between brainstorming and “brain swarming”
  • Techniques for generating both convergent and divergent thinking

In the systems development traditions of the past, most people adhered to the concept that development should be done in discrete phases.

These were typically sequential: analysis, design, implementation, and testing, often referred to as “the waterfall”.

Agile processes reject this notion almost entirely, and so one question that often arises is: if there is no design “phase”, when does design happen?

Is there a role for design in an agile process?

In this webinar Scott Bain (LinkedIn profile) will address this question and introduce the concept of an “emergent” design process.

This will be an overview, with no technical knowledge or experience required.

The rapidly changing, post-digital business environment has thrown enterprise architecture (EA) practices into the spotlight.

Organizations are operating in a volatile, uncertain, complex, and ambiguous world, which has placed a purposeful emphasis on EA’s ability to bridge the gap between the business and technology strategy.

EA leaders must understand the technologies driving the change and the impact they will have on the business, while managing the complexities with increasingly distributed technology teams.

Join Gartner expert Austin Steinmetz (LinkedIn profile) explores the critical steps that EA leaders must use to best navigate the drive to modernize.

Discussion Topics:

  • Ensure enterprise architecture (EA) is viewed as a trusted advisor
  • Identify opportunities for innovation using business architecture
  • Understand and apply adaptive governance that pivots around business outcomes

Learn how to:

  • Explore lesser-used chart options such as tree maps, waterfalls, and funnels
  • Calculate proportional shapes
