Topics covered in this webinar, include:

  • How AI can expedite and simplify typical data-driven and labor-intensive project manager tasks.

Leveraging Your Interpersonal Skills For Effective Meetings

Multiple research results indicate that the majority of workers spend about a third of their workweek in meetings.

For project managers, program managers, and C-Suite executives, those numbers are much higher, and for good reasons. The bulk of the work involved in leading project teams revolves around discussions with vendors, contractors, project sponsors, team members, and many other stakeholders.

Still, despite having a lot of practice time under our belt with meetings, it doesn’t seem as if we’ve got the hang of it.

Many people who attend meetings report them as being very boring and unproductive. As a result, the sentiments towards most meetings can range from absenteeism, tardiness, or lethargy.

One study estimated that large companies lose up to US$100 million to unnecessary and ineffective meetings. Another study concluded that US$37 billion are lost each year to unproductive meetings.

In the project management space where meetings constitute a greater part of the work, it is important that we do all we can to avoid such waste. So, how can we turn this around?

Ensuring that every meeting is effective, productive, and pleasurable to those in attendance should be a desire of everyone who leads teams of people.

In this presentatioSunday (Sunny) Faronbi (LinkedIn profile) will show how having “the meeting before the meeting” can translate to better meeting outputs. You will also learn about the right structure that will keep your meetings on track and make them more productive.

Putting these into practice can transform the quality of your meetings, reduce waste, and lead to better buy-in from your stakeholders.

Learning Outcomes:

  • Identify the benefits of having the meeting before the meeting.
  • Outline and adopt the FAA (Facts, Analysis, Action) structure for productive meetings.

Most talent development programs drive improvement in business measures–just not necessarily all the improvement.

Taking full credit for the improvement in performance measures is a bit unfair–and, quite frankly, will diminish the credibility of the results you report. That is why it is important to give credit where credit is due by taking a step to isolate the effects of your programs and projects on improvement in measures that matter.

Isolating the effects of the programs is not about isolating programs from other activities in the organization—far from it. In fact, by isolating the effects of your program, you’re positioning yourself as a better business partner. Doing so enables you to explain how you know the investments in programs are driving results and help your clients allocate resources to the different programs, projects, and activities in which they invest.

During this session, you will learn three techniques to isolate the effects of talent development programs. Case studies will demonstrate each technique. Participants will calculate the improvement in business measures due to the programs described in the case studies. Remember to bring a calculator.

Participants should be able to:

  1. Describe the importance of isolating the effects of programs
  2. Apply at least three techniques to isolate the effects of programs
  3. Determine when to use each of the techniques covered in this session

Presenter:  Patti Phillips, (LinkedIn profile) Ph.D.Is president / CEO of the ROI Institute. She is an expert in measurement and evaluation, and author of Measuring Leadership Development: Quantify Your Program’s Impact and ROI on Organizational Performance. Patti applies ROI Methodology to leadership development programs, coaching initiatives. Patti also authored over 30 books including her latest books: The Bottom Line on ROI: Basics, Benefits, & Barriers to Measuring Training & Performance Improvement and Measuring the Success of Coaching (to be released 2012, ASTD).
