Risk management has a variety of metrics, almost all dealing with how well the process is being maintained. What is needed are metrics that determine whether the process is working. In particular, risk management is a fundamentally a two step process:  identify the risks, and mitigate the risks.  Both can and should be measured to know whether your risk management process is effective.

In this presentation Charles describes the first in a two part series on how to measure the effectiveness of risk management on projects and programs.
The first metric will show how to measure how well your project is identifying the risks.   Coupled with a later discussion on mitigation measures, the effectiveness of the R&O process can be determined.
Presenter:  Charles Weis (LinkedIn profile)has 30+ years in Aerospace design, development, production and maintenance. More than 20 of those years has been in project and program management. He is leads the corporate program risk management working group in his current company.

The Use Of An Award Winning Teaching Case Study

The case study on resolving agency issues in client-contractor relationships was the winner of the 2019 DSI PMI Instructional Case Writing Competition.

Dr Christine Unterhitzenberger (the author) will present some theoretical background on the use of case studies in teaching and then introduce the case study itself and outline its potential use in online settings.

The case study focuses on the management of relationships which has been acknowledged as a crucial element of project success.

However, agency related issues such as goal conflict, information asymmetry or opportunistic behavior can make relationship management a real challenge.

The program managers for One Global Headquarters at Merck developed their own way on how to deal with this challenge in a complex and uncertain environment. This case study will provide unique insights into their approach and motivation.

The scope and complexity of generative AI (GenAI) projects vary significantly, as does the maturity and ability of organizations to effectively address the broad set of potential requirements.

Successful GenAI projects must focus their efforts in ways that match their maturity in key areas. This task is further complicated by the rapid evolution of GenAI over the last 18 months, with major new options entering the market regularly.

As a result, new ‘immature’ options must constantly be understood and considered as part of your overall plan.

In this Gartner leadership webinar, Bern Elliot, (LinkedIn profile) VP Distinguished Analyst  as he provides leaders with a framework for understanding and prioritizing their GenAI projects based on their maturity in key areas.
