Online Webinar  – Recorded Aug 01, 2019
Activity Type: Education – Online or Digital Media  1 PDU – Free
Provider: Training Magazine Network

Whether it’s an online meeting, a presentation via webinar, or live online training, engagement is the main question on everyone’s mind: Will it be worth my time to attend, or will it be an opportunity to check email instead?

Online meeting technology is powerful and has made it easy to connect with people from anywhere in the world at any time, yet L&D professionals often still struggle with getting everyone to interact. Interaction is the answer to successful engagement and using the features of the platform is the answer to interaction.

However, the features alone do not engage the participants. It is what you choose to do with those features that will make the difference in your next virtual training, webinar, or meeting.

During this session, you will learn what you can do to be successful in the virtual environment and avoid having everyone ask for a recording or a copy of the slides five minutes into your next virtual event.

You’ll analyze the activities demonstrated and brainstorm where the techniques could be applied to your virtual training programs. You’ll explore the specific challenges of managing the technology, and brainstorm solutions to the engagement problems you are likely to experience with your live online attendees when technical problems arise.

Activities are the key to your success. Through them you’ll learn to manage the technology, get attendees to actively engage, and help presenters have a great time too!

Application on the Job

  1. Define virtual learner engagement to effectively design the appropriate activities.
  2. Analyze activities for specific engagement techniques and feature usage to apply to your own activity design.
  3. Create your own customized activities for immediate use in your virtual classroom programs.

This webinar is based on the book Interact and Engage! 50+ Activities for Virtual Training, Meetings, Webinars by Kassy LaBorie & Thomas Stone.

Presenter: Kassy LaBorie (LinkedIn profile) Director of Virtual Training Services for Dale Carnegie Training, is an indemand keynote speaker & leads a consultancy  to develop online training strategies for organizations . Less than half of organizations consistently report high strategic alignment in their project management practices despite established research linking business success to strategic alignment in projects.

Regulatory implementation programs, in particular, are susceptible to being operationally (as opposed to strategically) managed with the sole focus on “getting the job done”.

This is due to the perception that these programs are a cost burden to financial institutions with limited contribution to value creation. A decade of responding to increased regulatory scrutiny globally has nevertheless spurred commercial interest in project management frameworks that are tied to business strategy.

In this presentation Alexandra Wong examines the adoption of a strategy-driven approach in an implementation program of Markets in Financial Instruments Directive (MiFID) 2 in Asia Pacific; assesses the efficacy of this approach towards program success and; highlights the implications for future regulatory programs.

Online Webinar – Recorded May 24, 2022
Activity Type: Education – Online or Digital Media 1 PDU – Free

WARNING: There is a rule that you can not copy videos from YouTube.com and TikTok.com. But there are so many videos you can scavenge, copy, crop, “mutate”, splice and dice, “cannibalize”, and make your own – keeping within limits, of course.

Why do you want to do this?

Because like Ray, we are “cheap” and can never produce great videos such as these in our wildest imagination. This is Ray’s approach: within limits, he download the video, crop, and convert. Edit, combine, spruce up, intermingled with contextual questions, then add and finally delivers it in an instant learning platform.  If Ray can do it, you can too!

Ray will show you ideas that you will find awesome:

  • How to develop snappy and engaging scripts for short and provocative video teasers and igniters for lessons.
  • How to find and discover the right mixture of videos from Youtube.com and other places.
  • Why is there a growth in the underworld producer networks.
  • How to use the “pegging method” in shifting back and forth between your script and the videos and media.
  • How to have “ninja-like skills” in combining multiple videos, audio effects, images, and learning platform tricks to engage learners.
  • How to use tiny videos to ignite learning discussions in cohorts, communities, and project teams.
  • How to secure permissions from video owners.

If you have no budget, you can use very cheap and free tools. Let Ray show you.

He will also ask the community to share their tiny videos which they developed from their love of creating things –  creatively and inexpensively. Share and preview “The Tiniest Provocative Videos” gallery.
