We’re constantly being told that AI will revolutionize the way we all work and what we do, but can you imagine ever not using PowerPoint?

It just feels like it’s too embedded into everything to be cast aside. Fortunately, Microsoft, and others, are also incorporating AI tools into PowerPoint, allowing people to benefit from the technological leaps, while still using familiar tools.

The anticipated launch of Microsoft Copilot will be a huge boost to storytelling, design, and visualization for many – enabling them to create better presentations much more quickly and easily.

It’s easily the most exciting thing to happen to PowerPoint, and the entire Office suite, since it was first launched 30 years ago.

But there are other, more subtle, but equally useful AI tools that help you in all sorts of ways. From creating custom graphics and layouts to finding suitable content to incorporating web cam feeds into your slides, to automatic subtitles and translations of your presentation – as you deliver it, live.

Frankly, given that this outline is being written months ahead of the session being delivered, who knows what else will happen in that time. Certainly, plenty to cover that will be highly relevant to people in an L&D environment who probably dream in PowerPoint.

  1. Understand the range of AI tools available to support your presentation.
  2. Create stunning presentations quickly and easily using PowerPoint and AI.
  3. Share your presentation stories with your audience in an engaging and effective way.

What good does it do participants when the trainer shows he/she can do it?

Surveys are important tools for gathering the data we use for training evaluation, and they’re easy to compose, right? Wrong!

Survey respondents get frustrated with questions that don’t have response options that match their experiences, or confused by response options that are misaligned with question stems.

Poorly constructed rating scale questions are a particularly common phenomenon, even for experienced evaluators and survey designers!

Did you know that the rating scales we use with survey questions actually influence response?

This makes our decisions about which scales or which intervals to offer even more impactful. We also hold onto myths about how many scale points are best, how to label them, or whether to use an odd or even number of response options.

These beliefs prevent us from asking clear, easy-to-answer questions that yield meaningful, actionable data.

Join Sheila for real-world examples of survey questions, practice in identifying common rating scale problems, and some mythbusting, along with research-based strategies for designing high-quality rating scale questions.

Participants will be able to:

  • identify common problems with survey rating scales
  • identify common myths in rating scale design
  • determine when to use an odd or even number of scale points in a given survey item
  • determine when to use midpoints and non-substantive response options in rating scale items
  • apply best practices for labeling rating scales
