Over 60% of daily tasks are about problems that have no clear answers. They are exceptions from routine tasks and they require different skill sets.

Unfortunately, traditional training and learning designs are limited to instructions and memorization of content. Instructions are useful when problems are specific and known. They are ineffective in problems that require more critical thinking.

Topics covered in the webinar:

  • Why is critical thinking more important in today’s rapidly changing and technology-driven work environments?
  • How is critical thinking different from instruction-type of training and learning?
  • What are examples of tasks that require critical thinking?
  • What are examples of basic and advanced critical thinking methods?
  • How to add critical thinking in your lessons in eLearning, classroom, and webinars?
  • How to add critical thinking in technical, compliance, software, and people skills lessons?
  • How to capture the impacts of critical thinking by team members?

Note: Join the webinar and get the “How to Add Critical Thinking In Learning” article.

You do your job because you are good at writing, graphics, software, projects, or you have mastered instructional design and technologies.
But you have no clue what matters in your business. Your boss says, “We want training quick and useful.” And the boss does not tell you why and how.

Consequently, your learning and training programs are off-target, off-mark, and do not hit what the boss wants. Your boss is unimpressed. You are exasperated.

In this webinar, Ray will share his consulting toolkit and experience on how to understand the business mindset.

The Business Impacts Framework will help you discover where to find the correct targets inside your business and how to use your expertise in design, development, and delivery to create results. This webinar takes you to a “real sample” to understand the business mindset.

Topics to cover:

  • Why is training often thought of as the “dispensable cost” department?
  • What is the difference between the L&D mindset and business mindset?
  • What is the The Business Impacts Framework?
  • What are business impacts and how do these areas drive your learning and training solutions?
    • Flow and speed
    • Costs and yields
    • Technology disruptions
    • Errors and returns
    • Payback, profits, and costs
    • Capital, balance sheet
    • Customers, suppliers, and shareholders
    • Materials, equipment, people, processes
  • How to estimate the business impacts of your learning and training projects?
  • What to do when your leadership has very antiquated beliefs based on century-old learning principles?
  • How to ask questions to your boss to keep a business mindset?
  • Why is it essential for your survival to have the “business impacts” mindset?

Note  Attend the webinar and obtain Ray’s The Business Impacts Framework Worksheet.

Below you will see the Business Impacts Framework. These are areas that your bosses’ mindsets are focused on. Where and how will your training and learning programs impact the business?

Writing your first book is not easy, but it can be done.  While many of us have the “great idea” inside of us, we either don’t think we have the time, or we don’t know where to start.

Pete Blank, MHR, CSP, (LinkedIn profile) has self-published two books and co-authored a third.  While it’s not making him rich, there is a certain amount of gravitas that comes with being a published author, and that is good enough for him!

In this session, Pete will share his experiences and answer these most pressing questions around self-publishing:

  • How do I get started, and what should my topic be?
  • How much do I have to invest to get started?
  • Do I need an editor, agent, or cover designer?
  • What are the best self-publishing websites to use?
  • Will I get rich?
  • Can I say I am a published author even if I self-publish?

Discussions about diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) are center stage in many organizations. This conversation is not new–it’s just that DEI is a topic on which attention ebbs and flows.

When inequities and bad behavior risk or damage individual or organizational reputation, microscopic focus ensues. When things seem to rock along smoothly, focus moves elsewhere.

Organization leaders pledge hundreds of millions of dollars to commission studies, launch training sessions, and hire consultants and diversity czars. But is it working?

Some experts argue that, despite decades of hand wringing, costly initiatives, and uncomfortable conversations, organizations have, apart from a few exceptions, fallen far short of their goals.

Renewed interest in DEI has prompted organization leaders to reflect on the progress (or lack of progress) they have made with these efforts. As one Wall Street Journal article states, “It’s time to move from saying, “We need to do this“ to asking “What are we doing with this?”

Showing the value of DEI investments can be challenging for some professionals. This session will describe how to measure the value, including ROI, of DEI programs.

Learn to:

  1. Identify the five levels of outcomes from DEI programs
  2. Explain the need to deliver impact and ROI for selected DEI programs
  3. Design DEI programs to deliver application, impact, and ROI
  4. Plan the next steps to ensure DEI programs delivers value

Presenter:  Patti Phillips, (LinkedIn profile) Ph.D.Is president / CEO of the ROI Institute. She is an expert in measurement and evaluation, and author of Measuring Leadership Development: Quantify Your Program’s Impact and ROI on Organizational Performance. Patti applies ROI Methodology to leadership development programs, coaching initiatives. Patti also authored over 30 books including her latest books: The Bottom Line on ROI: Basics, Benefits, & Barriers to Measuring Training & Performance Improvement and Measuring the Success of Coaching (to be released 2012, ASTD).
