Online Webinar  – Recorded July 22nd 2022
Activity Type: Education – Online or Digital Media  1 PDU – Free
Provider: Training Magazine Network

Oftentimes, webinars and virtual training are focused on “learning for the future.” Their goal is to present all the content so the learners will hopefully remember and apply them on the job.

Unfortunately, this method creates a big distance between knowing the concept and the time of applying the content. The consequence is that few ideas are retained and eventually applied.

Learning, for now, is another option. It enables learners to learn to apply ideas now, instantly, and immediately. The benefits are that the webinars bring immediate results at work, and the learners remember the lessons better because they have the chance to apply them “now.”

Topics to cover:

  • Why are leaders pushing more for “Learning for Now?”
  • What are the differences between “Learning for Now” from “Learning for the Future?”
  • What are the key steps to convert presentations to more current and recent demands of the business?
  • What are examples and templates of “Learning for Now” methods?
  • How do you use your webinar and virtual platform to implement  “Learning for Now?”

Microlearning is designed to meet a specific learning outcome, but how can you know that your design will be effective?

One aspect to consider is the cognitive load required to process the information and activities you design.

That’s because information overload is a significant hindrance to effective learning and retention. Fortunately, we can do something about it. Over the decades, cognitive load theory has been researched and refined.

This interactive session demonstrates ways that learning designers can reduce high cognitive load during individualized and collaborative learning.

In this session, Connie will explore:

  • A model of how people learn
  • Different types of cognitive load
  • Causes of high cognitive load
  • Practical instructional strategies you can use to reduce high cognitive load
  • How cognitive load affects collaborative learning

Presenter: Connie Malamed (LinkedIn profile) helps people learn and improve their instructional design skills so they can gain confidence and proficiency in this field. She has helped hundreds of people gain competence in instructional esign and I’d love to help you. Connie had her own ID business for 20 years, wrote two books on visual design, publish The eLearning Coach website and podcast, and was honored with the Guild Master award for contributions to the industry.

Unfortunately, there’s a lot of silence about what happens before iteration 1. But isn’t everything supposed to happen after the first iteration? Doesn’t the Product Backlog just evolve on its own after starting the project?

Yes, we could just get started with a number of user stories. And we would make some progress and get some things done. But is that really effective? Are we reaching the full potential of what could be created?

There are some key elements you should have in place before the first iteration. Let’s state (or re-state) the overall vision and purpose of the product. We need to truly understand the people who are going to use it, for now, and for the future. And let’s analyze what can affect our outcome. These critical factors will inform the initial product backlog creation.

Having these important things will ensure a better start for your Agile project.

What You Will Learn

After this one-hour session, learners will be able to:

  • Identify the key factors that contribute to a successful Agile project start
  • Focus on personas and journey maps and a business canvas
  • Recognize the attribute of an initial product backlog

Presenter: Rubin Jen (LinkedIn profile)is a coach, consultant, and trainer with 25+ years of experience and success in Agile, traditional project, program, and portfolio management. Rubin is also a Disciplined Agile Certified Instructor and Certified ScrumMaster and specializes in organizations transitioning to an Agile environment. One thing we can be sure of is change. It’s inevitable, and a natural part of our everyday personal and professional lives. Even though it’s a known fact that change will occur, there is still un-certainty around the long-term effects of change in an organization.

Dealing with change and uncertainty is a daunting responsibility for every leader.

Change efforts often fail because the organization and their leaders lack the framework and skills to guide their people through it effectively. Failed or stalled change initiatives waste time and money, reduce productivity and engagement, and increase employee turnover.

In this webinar you will learn tools for how to create an effective change management plan to maximize time, effort, and money, and set the leaders in the organization up for success.

In this webinar, Lisa will explore:

  • Recognizing change starts with you
  • Establishing a mindset and plan for change
  • Measuring progress

Presenter: Lisa Cox (LinkedIn profile) Trainer/Coach/Consultant Corporate Education Group (CEG), has 20 +years experience in the professional development of business associates, managers, directors, and senior-level leadership.
