About the Book:
Managing and Leading People Through Organizational Change: The Theory and Practice of Sustaining Change Through People

Tremendous forces for change are radically reshaping the world of work. Disruptive innovations, radical thinking, new business models, and resource scarcity are impacting every business sector.

Although the scale of expected change is not unprecedented, what is unique is the pervasive nature of the change and its accelerating pace.

While structures, systems, processes, and strategies are relatively simple to understand and even fix, people are more complex.

Change can have a different impact on each individual, which can cause different attitudes and reactions.

Managing and Leading People Through Organizational Change provides a critical analysis of change and transformation in organizations from both a theoretical and practical perspective.

It addresses the individual, team, and organizational issues of leading and managing people before, during and after change, using case studies and interviews with people from organizations in different industries across the globe.

Each chapter includes learning objectives, boxed summaries, diagrams/models, case examples with questions, exercises, and a list of references and further reading.

Kevin Richardson (LinkedIn profile) will walk through some common examples of two types of projects and how to wrestle them to the ground:

  1. Ones that are initiated in a corporate setting
    • like Electronic Arts, Nickelodeon (Viacom), and Mattel with a company culture and mature services like HR, legal, IT,  accounting etc.;
  2. Others initiated at startups or independent studios
    • where you start at the ground and build upward (companies that may start up solely for that single production).

Once attendees are introduced to these two types of projects, Kevin will take a deeper look into:

  • How we can, with a team of creatives with specific skills
    • Software project managers, engineers, technical directors, writers, artists, character designers, story tellers, animators
  • Apply PM process and tricks of the trade to create requirements,
  • Unify the vision and goals, and manage towards an extraordinary output.

Who this webinar is for?

Project managers who are working on, or are curious about, how to run successful large entertainment projects where intellectual property (story, characters, brands) is at the core of the output.

The projects may be multi-year, 100k to 20+ million, launched in a large corporate or startup environment, and must succeed in a crowded, and highly competitive consumer category (TV, movies, games, rides, books, museum installations,  etc.).

One of the major challenges during the project gathering requirements phase, is to be assured that all requirements have been met.

The more accurate the job is, the more likely your project will succeed.

In this context, how often do PMs consider Compliance and Internal Control at this stage?

Today, in a world with growing organizations, keen to launch their IPOs, with increasingly cross-department projects, increasingly integrated systems, corporate compliance is one of the fastest growing areas.

Projects need to deliver efficiency, but at the same time, must comply with internal policies and ensure there will be elements to protect organizations from the growing risk of fraud. In this context, PMs who are familiar with the characteristics of corporate governance and internal control principles are more likely to succeed.
