In this webinar Harvey Robbins discusses the six keys to making global virtual teams work more effectively.

Included in the discussion are factors such as:

  1. The creation of goals/objectives,
  2. The identification of roles/responsibilities, the recognition of potential barriers to team success,
  3. Issues such as leadership and communication, and
  4. The role personality differences plays in team effectiveness

The last key is identifying and remediating the cultural differences that occur specifically with global teams; how they make decisions and resolve conflicts based on their cultural norms.

The two presenters are well versed in both the creation of high performing project teams and dealing with the cultural differences present in global virtual teams.

This session is based on
The Project Manager’s Little Book of Cheats

There is no such thing as cheating in project management,
But if there were it would be this book!

The book  is in question / answer format with 11 chapters covering 65 questions, and includes quick steps, relevant tips, fun stories, and applicable advice to solving common problems and questions focused around the work of a project manager.

Some of the questions include:

  • #12 I need to convince someone of my idea. How do I sell an idea?
  • #16 Since most of my work communication is through email, how can I make my email communication more effective?
  • #22 How can I convince those who are change resistant?
  • #39 Assumptions introduce a lot of risk. What are some common assumptions to watch out for?
  • #41 How can I tell if a project is getting off track before it’s too late?
  • #47 What process could I use to evaluate project requests to determine if they should be approved or not?
  • #51 How can I make my team meetings more productive?
  • #58 My project tracking needs have grown beyond Microsoft Excel. What are some good project management tools?

When you have a question or problem do you have time to stop what you’re doing and read a three hundred page book on a single topic?

Wouldn’t it be great if you could open a book and find a one to two page answer that you can apply immediately, in the moment when you need it?

This Is That Book

This is a  book that will sit on or in your desk and be frequently opened when questions or problems arise. Write on the pages, make your own notes, and highlight what works for you.

Join the author,  and host, Beth Spriggs, PMP, (LinkedIn profile) &  Tolitha Lewis (LinkedIn profile) for a live Q&A session.

Presenter: Beth Spriggs, PMP, (LinkedIn profile  @SpriggsBeth) author of The Project Manager’s Little Book of Cheats is an experienced project manager, trainer, and speaker. Management is assigned, but leadership must be earned.

A key skill relevant to leaders at all levels is the ability to influence people in such a way that others follow and act willingly.

Today’s projects are increasingly undertaken in environments in which the project leader has little formal authority.

A project with no one in charge is almost certain to fail. As a project manager you must assume control whether or not you possess formal organizational authority.

The good news is you can be an outstanding leader even without formal authority. In this interactive webinar you will learn exactly how.

Some techniques to be covered include:

  • Adopting a leadership style that works with your team members and striving to deliver on what people care about most
  • Deriving power from your expertise
  • Building your awareness and skill for influencing others
  • Utilizing intrinsic motivating factors
  • Increasing your influence through your actions and demeanor

Do you feel stuck in the middle between your management and your team in your agile approach?

In this webinar, Johanna will explain what servant leadership is and how to explore your servant leadership.

  • Management wants commitments.
  • Teams want the ability to adapt and be resilient to change.

Is there a way to manage—not commit to—both sets of desires?

Yes, it’s servant leadership.

Servant leadership helps you see how to help managers and team members use the best of agile/lean to deliver what the organization needs.

You can help the team measure and report on direct measurements, not surrogate measures.

You can help management create and envision the product with deliverable-based planning in the form of roadmaps and small stories.

You can help the managers and see progress in agile ways.

Join Johanna Rothman in this webinar to learn about your servant leadership so you can deliver better results.
