Fifty years since the first agile project, Enterprise Agility remains a hot topic and for some, it is a new delivery approach.

Started in the late 1970s as an alternative to Lean Six Sigma, Agile became popular in the second decade of the 21st century when the frameworks used by successful small software development team found their way into projects.

Possibly because it was successful on a small scale, or due to business involvement in the development of new software solutions, or just because agile has become something that any organization has to have over the last decade, agile “escaped” software development and is now more and more considered as an option for other Business Teams.

“Scaling” Agile beyond software development is a challenge because most popular agile frameworks are conceived by software developers for software developers. In many cases, “scaling” is done by returning to Lean Six Sigma practices – the very approach that Agile tried to improve or even replace.

Kaizen is a Lean Six Sigma practice used with great success in manufacturing. In this webinar, the author will share his practical experience with Kaizen in manufacturing as well as software development projects.

It’s been more than two years since we all moved online. In that time, we have spent hours, days and weeks attending meetings by Zoom, training on Teams and webinars on Webex.

Despite that reality, online meetings for many are a nightmare they would desperately prefer to avoid. Particularly when facilitating, it can be deeply intimidating to look out over a see of blank squares, knowing people are out there but you have no idea of their attentiveness or whether you have their attention.

Worse, efforts to get people to participate all too often result in silence, often enough that it feels safer avoiding attempts at audience involvement.

It doesn’t have to be this way. Facilitating virtual meetings is certainly different than running one in person, but there are strategies to be able to run meetings successfully and well.

In this presentation Mark Mullaly (LinkedIn profile) author of Researching the Value of Project Management dives deep into the strategies that enable effective audience participation in a virtual meeting environment. You’ll learns strategies that you can apply immediately to improve the effectiveness and enhance the success of your next virtual meeting.

Citizen developers are employees with little or no IT skills who create online applications and mobile apps using approved point-and-click app builder tools. According to Gartner’s (an IT consulting firm) research, by 2025, over 70% of organizations will use citizen-developed applications.

According to Mendix’s (another IT consulting firm) 2021 survey of 2,025 IT professionals in six countries, in organizations that use no-code/low-code platforms, 56% of employees use citizen-developed apps.

Thirty-three percent of organizations surveyed use citizen-developed apps for mission-critical operations. In addition, No-code/low-code projects reduce software application costs by 53% while delivering the applications 56% faster than traditional software projects.|

Many citizen developers are skilled in business analysis, marketing, or business strategy. They have excellent critical thinking skills and analytical skills.

However, citizen developers can be more effective if they acquire design thinking, agile project management, and product development/management, collaboration, customer education, and stakeholder management skills.

In this webinar Bill Brantley (LinkedIn profile)  will describe how to build a capabilities academy focused on essential knowledge, skills, and attitudes to help citizen developers create and deliver valuable no-code/low-code digital applications.

Learning outcomes:

  • Participants will be able to explain why a formal training program is necessary for the organization’s citizen developers.
  • Participants will describe the key knowledge and skills the citizen development training program will give citizen developers.
  • Participants will demonstrate how to build a Citizen Development Capabilities Academy for their organization.

Have you ever wondered why innovative organizational leaders and high-performing developers, product designers,

UX specialists, etc. – who are otherwise excellent at what they do – are slow and hesitant to adopt Agile methodologies?

Agile transformation is a hot topic right now, but many organizations rush the implementation process without pausing to assess and address foundational issues.

The truth is, new hires or new Agile teams aren’t entirely convinced that Agile methodologies can support their expertise and simplify their day-to-day tasks. They perceive Agile transformation as “just another thing” their company is trying and are reluctant to commit.

In this workshop, Aina Aliieva (LinkedIn profile) will present a road map that will help agile practitioners and executives interested in agile transformation identify the root cause of resistance of new Agile teams and new hires.

Aina willl also look at the challenges Agile evangelists such as Scrum Masters, Agile Coaches, and POs face in implementing these methodologies.

The goal is to get all Agile stakeholders aligned with a company’s or a product’s vision and reframe how Agile is seen and used by everyone involved. After this interactive presentation, Agile specialists, executives, and product owners will know exactly how to facilitate Agile transformations with a culture-first approach, supported by coaching, mentorship, and the right kind of accountability (avoiding micromanagement).

The result?

Teams who truly believe in the potential of Agile methodologies and continue to incrementally incorporate them in their work without resistance, thus accelerating their learning curve.

Learning Outcomes:

  • Uncover critical challenges faced by Agile evangelists such as  Scrum Masters, Agile Coaches, and POs in implementing Agile methodologies in their company or teams
  • Understand the importance of learning by failing fast (based on key takeaways from the Dunning-Kruger effect and Dreyfus Model of Skill Mastery)
  • How to facilitate a culture shift in the organization to make Agile transformation easier

Mark Bundang  (LinkedIn profile) gives you an introduction to change management (CM) from the eyes of a project manager who had no formal experience with CM prior to the biggest transformation project of his career.

Mark will walk you through the context of the ERP implementation, then introduce the Change Management (CM) Cycle and its components. I’ll give one or two concrete examples of what I did to practically apply CM in the project for each of the 5 pillars of the CM Cycle, discussing the value that each of those applications/tools brought to the project.
